Where it stops, no body knows.

Personal Log, supplemental... Just kidding, always wanted to say that. Loved those old Star Trek TNG episodes I use to watch with dad. Does feel like I am boldly going where no one has gone before. I started reaching unscanned systems about a hundred jumps back and its exciting to think that my name will be on the cartos for those systems. Even more amazing, I seem to have struck a lucky streak of water worlds and Earth like with plenty of other terraformables. Have not seen many of the ammonia worlds though.
I wanted to send you guys a letter and let you know that I am really going out into the black and it is fantastic. I met that engineer Felicity Farseer and she upgraded my FSD massively, giving me some pretty impressive jump ranges now. And since I am already in and Asp Explorer, I thought it a prudent idea to actually go out and you know.. explore. Plus, it seems there are a few more engineers that won't find my feats impressive enough unless I stray far off the beaten path so I through caution to the wind and set off for destinations unknown. I am also going for the world record on number of cliches in one paragraph. I am hoping to learn some valuable lessons on this trip before I plan my trip out to Colonia down the road. Plan is the operative word here, because this trip would have benefitted from a bit more planning as I have already learned some tough, but luckily not deadly, lessons.
I had planned for a longer trip but like I said, I sort of skipped the planning phase and went off somewhat halfcocked. 40ly is a good jump range but I could have done better. Not to mention I underestimated the size of my music library and unfortunately I am about 5kly from the nearest COM hub to update my playlists. At least the sights are spectacular. I will say though that the hyperjump hypnosis is a real thing and listening to the clicks and whistles of the FSS does get old especially after a steady diet of rocky bodies and gas giants. And out here one can't afford those lapses in concentration because I have twice now misjudged my approach and the size of EZ when dropping into a system and had emergency drop out of SC. The last one, I am pretty sure I heard my port atmospheric stabilizer snap like a wet towel. And last time I went to the head, I found a sheared floating through the compartment. Haven't noticed any atmospheric pressure loss and neither has the computer so I'll just assume all is good. There was some slight module damage which the AFMU was able to take care of but because of my lack of proper planning, I forget to stock any repair limpets so it is a good think I am not leaking atmo because I would have no way of repairing it. I guess I will have to trust that the Artemis will take care of me as long as I take care of her.
Well, I guess that is all I have to say for now, I am 85 jumps from some backwater nebula I have never heard of and frankly can't pronounce but I hope to catch some cool sights on the way.. and on the way back. I hope Jimmy is still working out of Procyon, be nice to talk to someone and have a beer when I get back, didn't pack any of that either but I still have that bottle of Single Malt Lagavulin you guys gave me. Will have to have some upon my destination.
Until next time,
Jacob.
