Part of Something Big

Log Date: 30 APR 3307It's been a while since I've felt like I've been part of something I've believed in this much. As a freelance Pilot I've served in wars, aided in station recoveries, fought Thargoids, and delivered a lot of cargo across the stars. There used to be a fire behind my eyes, a fire that burned hot and with a purpose. I don't know how, I don't know when, but that fire slowly burned down to embers, and slowly those embers got cold.
That changed a few months back when my old friend CMDR Wolthbrook approached me with the proposition about joining the 01st. The goals of the 01st aligned with my own, and it had been a while since I flew in a wing alongside anyone, so I accepted. What I didn't expect, was that fire to come back. The drive of establishing the 01st as an entity, making allies with other factions, defending Empire controlled space from pirates, making sure medical supplies are getting to where they need to be, and knowing that I'm making a difference in the big picture is the fuel I needed.
I've had letters of intent from some of the galaxy's best Engineers sitting on my desk for YEARS. I always looked at them and said I'd get around to answering them, or I'll meet up with him and talk soon, but never had a strong enough reason, or desire, to get to it. Now with the mission of the 01st, that newly lit fire, here I am 2000 LY away from home, on some random ass moon, in some random ass nebula, knocking down random ass crystals because I know I can trade them to get all the materials I need to make my ships stronger, faster, and better to help better the Fleet of the 01st.
Another thing I've never really done is publish these logbook entries. Maybe I'll go back thru the stacks of entries from my travels (like the 75000 LY trip to Colonia / Sag A) and publish them for public record.
Until next time. O7 CMDR
