A couple of weeks ago, I was on a mission from my own faction, when I met Halo Chase for the 1st time.It wasn't a friendly meeting, in fact she tried to take me down for my bounty!
The battle took a lot longer than I expected with her being so nimble but when I eventually got her down to 5% hull, I sent her a message - "Truce? "
One of her ships thrusters was completely ruined, so she agreed.
We ended up in a bar, talking until long after closing time.
Apparently she was found as an orphan child, in a damaged escape pod, floating in the seas of Thosiao A9, and brought up by an elderly Thosiao woman.
The only other item of interest in the escape pod was a damaged Remlok helmet, with the insignia DGM.
After a bit of research of Universal Cartographic data, we found that DGM stood for the Dirty Gun Mercenaries, and their sole presence in the universe is a small faction presence in HIP 103138, almost 100Ly from their home system Gun.
They have been at less than 5% influence in HIP 103138for as far back as records go. (at least a year) -
I took Halo to a small outpost on HIP 103138, where we met Theo Romero, and his crew, in a pretty sorry state, being massively exploited by Grom, and the HIP Solutions corporation had imposed an 80% tax rate on them, killing them if they could not pay.
Theo (now disabled, & pretty old) and the rest of the group used to be the shipyard crew for the Dirty Gun Mercs, and were absolutely delighted to see Halo, who was apparently the sole survivor of a family of Elite pilots, who are all now presumed missing, or dead.
None of them knew the final fate of the Dirty Mercs.
After much celebration, we were taken to the hills, and shown into a secret bunker, where under tarps we were shown the remains of their shipyard & outfitting stock, which they'd kept hidden from the HIP Solutions, for obvious reasons.
They took Halo's ship in for some much needed repairs, and an up-grade or two!
They had the ships, but they needed pilots.
My faction supplied them with pilots, and trainers, and under the command of Halo & Theo, the Dirty Gun Mercenaries were back in business!
My own strategy analyst pointed out that despite being in 4th place in the system, the two faction in 2nd & 3rd place in HIP 103138 were currently at war, so with some serious BGS work, the DGM leapfrogged into 2nd place, and less than a week later, with some serious support from my faction, the Dirty Gun Mercenaries have risen up against the corporations & dictatorships, and gone from insignificant, to firmly in control of HIP 103138, and it's high tech station.
The populations of HIP 103138 are delighted to now be living in an independent democracy, so new recruits are flooding in to the new training centres.
They are already within a thargoids whisker of being in a position to expand into another system, although Halo believes it would be prudent to fortify defences rather than expand, in case of a backlash from Yuri Grom & the EG Pilots, who above all else, hate democracy!
Some say they must have had help from Anarchist criminals as they couldn't possibly have achieved this incredible turnaround alone, but a spokesman for the DGM Crew say this is just rumours. The un-marked black ships were 'Cargo Vessels', and no-one can prove anything anyway.
The Dirty Gun Mercenaries are now looking for a new Wing Commander, to set up an Inara Wing (Artie has said he WILL link a new wing to the DGM PMF.) and Halo has issued the following wing objectives:
1. to find out what happened to her family & their friends in the old DGM wing.
2. to help in any anti-Grom initiatives, and to spread democracy in Grom space.
3. to expand DGM faction 100Ly back to their home system, in Gun.
So, if you have the pilots, then Halo Chase has the missions, and the shipyard crew for you!
