Well i am tremendously disappointed with my own carrier, after a couple of runs where we picked up thousands of tons of platinum, just like that, the carrier had a breach in the cargo bay and as soon as I checked stock today they were blown... That has made me very furious, it has almost made me want to not continue the mining expedition... We calculate that the losses are approximately more than 300,000,000 credits. If it weren't for the insignificant value for me at this point I would give up... but I'll continue with the expeditions hoping it doesn't happen again... if this were a video game I'd say it's a Bug...
But no matter what i do the damage is done and we can't take it back...
But now I need to get ready for the next run, since there will be another one... I guess all we have to do is hope that we won't find any pirates on our way... I mean it's not like they're going to attack us or anything right?
The next day I woke up early in the morning, feeling refreshed, even though I didn't sleep much during the night. and we were ready to go to the planet ring to continue the mining expedition! I was so excited about this prospect! I knew that there would be a lot of platinum here, maybe even more than expected. And also other precious metals as well. And after all the hard work, I know that we will profit from this, and make money!
I walked out to the hangar and saw my ship was ready to go. "Mining Excursion" it read.
And then I jumped into the cockpit and prepared for departure, and started the engines. My ship accelerated quickly and within seconds, we reached jump speed.
We arrived at the designated coordinates and slowed down. I decided to look around the area before start mining the asteroids of the ring. There wasn't much to see, just some rocks. It took me only a few minutes to realize that this wasn't going to be an easy task. The asteroid belt was small and not dense enough to mine properly. After a while I realized that it was pointless to search and decided to begin mining straight away.
I began by using the main laser to cut into the rock to expose the metallic layer beneath it. Then I used the scanner to determine which metallic particles were located inside the rock, and then I selected them with the help of the computer and removed them from the rock. This process had been very tedious until now, but fortunately the scanner helped to remove the unnecessary metals faster. So after a bit of searching, I found a large amount of platinum in one particular asteroid. I cut off the surface of the asteroid, revealing the metal beneath it. With a little effort I managed to cut off all the metals and placed them in the cargo hold with my colector drones.
After a few hours of mining, I finally finished removing all the metals from the asteroid. I looked through the scanner to check the percentage of platinum and how many parts there were left over. I was surprised to see that there was about 80% of platinum remaining in the asteroid. After calculating the total value, I could see that this was a profitable mission. I was making about 7,000 credits per second. Not bad, considering I was doing all the labor myself.
However, when I tried to dock with the fleet carrier again, something strange happened. The ship stopped accelerating abruptly and the display showed a message "Emergency Stop". I asked the computer why this was happening, and it told me that there was a problem with the main engine. The computer explained that the gas pressure was not stable and because of this, the engine couldn't function. I went to check it myself, but the problem was extremely difficult to solve. It would take days to fix.
I tried to contact the fleet carrier and inform them of what was happening, but all I got was static. A wave of panic spread across my mind, and I knew I had to do something fast. I went to the cargo bay and opened the panel and then I observed the reactor. It seemed fine.
Suddenly, I heard the sound of lasers cutting through the air. I ran outside and saw four fighters flying towards me. Two of them flew in front of me, while the other two came from behind. They were targeting the reactor.
I didn`t have any weapons on this mining ship, still the shield are quite resistant but i need to make the engines work or the shield will fall. So I focused all my energy to the shields and concentrated on the fighters. I could hear the sound of their lasers hitting the shields and the ship began to shake slightly. I continued to focus and I could feel the ships power increase, but then suddenly it stopped working. I felt a pain in my chest and I was unable to move. I realized that I was dying. I closed my eyes and waited for the end.
Then I heard something. It sounded like a familiar voice... there were my fleet companion ,they comed to rescue me! They were going to shoot down the fighter's, and the ship would keep moving. But then I remembered that I didn't have any weapons.
They shot down the fighter's and then fired the missiles at the fighters who attacked me. I could see the missiles coming to me and I thought about trying to dodge them. But I knew that if I did, the ship would be destroyed.
I didn't have a choice, so I decided to accept my fate and wait for the end.
But then I felt a warm sensation in my arm. Suddenly I noticed that the reactor was turning back on. The ship started to accelerate and I regained control of the ship.
"Thanks, you saved me!" I said to the ship.
I felt relieved and thanked the ship again.
I decided to return to the fleet carrier and inform them of what happened. I landed safely and went to the comand deck. Well this has been an intense mining prospection, but everything went well, at least I come back with another 500 tons of platinum. Next one is this evening.... lets see how it go...
