LOG: First and foremost, I DID IT! My first neutron boost! That by far the most unsettling thing I've ever done in space, and that includes getting back to a station in a Vulture with a missing canopy and less than 10 seconds of oxygen left.
I think I'll be sticking with regular jumps for most of the expedition, because I'm out here to explore, not to make good time, but it's nice to have the first one under my belt if I do need to run off somewhere in an emergency.
Aside from that, I've arrived at the Conflux Delta Site. I'm still horrified and amazed at the story behind these sites. Some of the log entries I found driving around the base in an SRV were interesting. It sounds like they didn't tell anyone much of anything before sending them out into the black, and from what I've heard about some of the other sites in the project, the folks that came out to Conflux fared better than most of the other crews.
I can't imagine what it was like spending that much time in witch-space with the old hyperdrives. I'll probably make it to Beagle and back with less time in hyperspace than those crews spent just getting out here. My skin crawls just thinking about it.
At least I have oranges.
