Voyage to Colonia, Day 2

Day 2, think I'll take a couple more standard jumps and then try my hand at the Neutron Highway the rest of the journey. But first, I've got a system to map.Pru Euq LS-R d5-1
No luck in finding any notable planetary features. Of course I've only just learned that such things are reported in the Full Spectrum System Scanner. Chalk it up to unfamiliarity with the profession.

The very next jump took me to a system with 2 Notable Stellar Phenomena: a proto-Lagrange cloud full of Rubeum Metallic Crystals, and another containing Prasinum Metallic Crystals.

A fully unexplored system, containing some 11 bodies with geological features, totaling to well over 300 unique geological features. I will of course take the time to fully map the system, but it will take a more intrepid surveyor than myself to identify each of the unique features.
The Neutron Highway
I have flown conflict zones less terrifying than taking a neutron boost. You go to a conflict zone, and you know that folks in there wanna blow you up, and you probably have some reason to blow them up as well. But a neutron star? You don't matter to a neutron star, and it'll kill you just as easy. Easier, even, since you've got to gather the courage to plunge face first into an ejection cone and hope you come out the other side.
But to be honest, there's nothing quite as exhilarating as dipping the nose of the Grace Hopper into that ejection cone, fighting it as it tries to buck me right back out, and the 270ly jump on the other side. And hitting Colonia a few hours later certainly isn't a downside.
Colonia
Jacques Station, the first port of call for new travelers to the Colonia region
Well we made it. I've signed on with an outfit called the Path Rangers, back just before I left the Bubble. Good folks, helped make sure I made it here in one piece. Some enterprising commanders in the group run fleet carriers for their expeditions, I plan on meeting up with one to serve as a hub while I'm out here.
It's nice to be here. The stars are denser, it's a beautiful region of space, and a testament to the best of humanity. The part of us that makes us long for the unknown. And after that business between the Federation and Yuri Grom, and the other mission...it's good to be somewhere new. And now I have an idea for my first project as a newly minted explorer: hunting for Crystalline Shards.
See, Crystalline Shards of the kind found in HIP 36601 are incredibly rich sources of rare materials some commanders use in the engineering of their ships. And to my knowledge, none have been discovered in the Inner Scutum-Centaurus Arm. It's possible there are none, but I don't believe that. After I've met up with one of the Path Rangers' fleet carriers, I plan to sit down, have a coffee, and start researching the conditions under which they form. Turning from dogfights to science is a hell of a switch, but it's one I'm excited to make. I'll be starting a new set of logs for the search, hopefully as early as tonight.
Until then, CMDR Aedan Pryde, signing off.
