A Musing of the Wolves

The galaxy, as any who have spent any amount of time in the combat or political sectors will know, is a dangerous and incredibly unfriendly place. It is fraught with dangerous beyond any that a mind can perceive. Thargoids, bandits, pirates, ill-fate, and so much more. It was through my travels that I became of the disposition that the galaxy is much easier to traverse with allies. I had spent much time on that thought. During my time as a combat pilot, I came across many a man or woman that I could fly beside or even call my friend. However, serving as an imperial commander does place a expiration date on you and when it arrives it is much easier to simply allow it happen than fight it. Luckily ive never been one to lie down and take what was coming and so I fought back and did what I could to protect myself and my family.
After many a failed attempt on my life, I thought it would be easier to give everyone what they wanted and faked my death. It was during this time that I came into the jurisdiction of the Federation and their associates. It was a different experience in the beginning and, one that I have no issue saying, was a little jarring at first and certainly threw me for a loop.
I spent some time working as a combat pilot for some time before deciding to go into the private sector and become a tourist pilot. Its not exciting, given my past as a combat pilot, and I often feel myself wishing to return to the ways of old. It was during one of these outings into the bounty field that I came across a group that I soon found myself in awe of.
The wolves of 41 Lambda Hydrae
Spending some time in a local bar within the documented space of Felicia Winters, I heard a few rumors about a group operating under the title of an animal from many eons ago. I was delighted to hear that they had an open-door policy to any with a predilection of vengeance against the Imperials, and thus found myself searching for more information about them. I continued through Winters space chasing information as best as I could while still serving as a tourist pilot. It wasn’t until I came across a galactic meeting place that I was given the chance to fully explore the realm.
I was presented with a pledge not long after. One that seemed almost natural to me, but I understood the rhetoric and found myself following along very quickly. After some time I was admitted into the Wolves, a family I have come to cherish. I found myself in a wing of people that I got along with very well and began my life as a combat pilot once more.
But even in light, there is a shred of shadow and darkness. My wing mates from long ago have since gone to join the ice and eternity of the cosmic world. They each served, and no one could ever say that they had slacked in any form. They were phenomenal pilots and some of the best men I had fought alongside, but they too met their end at the hands of the empire.
Since my enlisting in the Wolves, I have seen great sacrifice, loss, and betrayal to rival stories of old. Throughout it all, I have never seen the group waver in their dedication to preserving the safety and nature of the people they had sworn to protect. Our stations bombed, our people killed, and our forces being outnumbered beyond belief never seemed to shake the resolve of the pilots I had come to know. In fact, I came to quite the opposite. The flame seemed to burn brighter, the pilots fought harder. I saw pilots in ships so heavily outmatched and walk away form it unscathed, that it almost seemed to be that the deities of karma and justice were among them.
In this galaxy, you are alone. The entirety of its cold existence is designed to put you through your paces. There is nothing about it that is going to save you, but the people in this galaxy are not always this way. Sure, their will always be pirates and criminals, convicts and politicians, even the occasional lawman or woman with an evil plan to carryout. In all that, the only thing you ever need to remember is that allies are there to save you, and there are in my opinion, no greater allies to join then the Winter Wolves.
