Report to Imperial High Command
10 Nov 2023Bensova
From the Desk of Inquisitor Bensova Volkner: Imperial agents assigned to the Pleiades nebula have reported strange movements across the region, specifically in the Maia system. Human scout-craft have all been seen scanning the area across Maia, Merope, and Delphi. These craft have evaded Imperial vessels when encountered and have refused to answer hails.
In each instance that the ships were scanned or encountered with, the same banner was flown.
McCoy Spaceways.
A company which is best known for a myriad of things, paramount of which is their secrecy. Their claim to fame. When contracts get done, tracing them back is rather difficult. And in many cases, fruitless.
Previously we dismissed them as normal trade and movements throughout the nebula, and they abruptly stopped some time ago. When this happened, there were massive changes across economic and corporate sectors in their sphere of influence. Over the course of 2 years, these changes have increased to such a point where they cannot be anything insignificant or routine.
Whatever they're doing, I am not entirely certain. All I know is they're planning something big. It wouldn't be against The Empire or The Federation, given that control of the area belongs to a number of independent organizations and factions. Perhaps they're planning something against the Thargoids? Something away from the main conflicts taking place around The Bubble?
Whatever it is, it is not my job to find out. My job is to keep tabs on the situation, only taking action if the situation calls for it. If McCoy Spaceways wants to figure out some way to approach the Thargoid war differently, that's on them. As long as it doesn't directly interfere with Imperial interests, nothing needs to be done.
It's a shame though. I'm sure if they share what they've learned about the Thargoids, The Empire would have a better time of fighting the xenos...
No matter. The situation will evolve as it presents itself, and so will my response. You'll be sure to hear it first.
Imperium Aeterna,
-B.V.
