More power than one
01 Dec 2015Brenner Soriah
Stardate 3011-3301, 1015Commander Brenner Soriah, log entry number three. I've completed all registrations of personal finances, affiliations, and owned items at this time. The information is unclassified for access to those with proper privileges, and I encourage any to take their time and peruse the statistics on my ships. Advice from those more experienced is always welcome; a sell-sword knows that more tools in the pocket means more money in the wallet.
Following along with my registrations, I was immediately contacted by several higher end pilot wings who wished to add me to their rosters. I don't blame them. I've noticed a relative shortage of pilots with any sort of combat experience and capabilities, and escorts who know what they are doing are a grand thing to have for any organization. I met with the leaders and politicians of each wing that contacted me, and also made a few calls myself. Being lone wolf means you get to experience certain freedoms, but there is only so much a single man can do in a galaxy so big. I'm going to be remembered, one way or another. Every journey begins with a single step. This is step one.
I settled on an up and coming wing known as the Paladin Consortium. Relatively young, there is a lot of opportunity for me to make my mark and to help mold the group into something strong, and something that is also beneficial to me. Following the meeting with the commander in charge, I took my flight out into Imperial territory to their stronghold in the LFT 37 system. The government body they currently have possesses a decent foothold, but they are still trying to uproot the current party in power. For now, I'm only taking my stock of the situation, and withholding the majority of my assistance. My priorities are elsewhere for now, and so long as the Consortium does not fall to a state of emergency, they can make do without one commander's help.
The location does provide the Federation an opportunity to create a solid foundation of friendly governments in Zemina Torval's control space. It doesn't have any sort of short term impact, but in the long run, it could provide a useful advance post for the implosion of ever present tensions, or simply as a deep listening post. My reports back to Federation's command and the various courier missions I undertook to reinforce the linking of the systems communications between governments have gotten me the promotion I wanted to Chief Petty Officer. One step closer to the gold oak leaf I want on my shoulders. Once I can rebuild my fortunes, I'm looking to make the Federation's ships a part of my private access. Specifically the Corvette that I've been hearing rumors about. I'll see how the dealer plays his cards, and make my move when opportunity reveals itself.
Going along with my promotion in the Federal Navy, the Pilot's Federation has finally awarded me the rank of elite with respect to my combat prowess. Fighting off the various interdictions by Imperial pilots seems to have solidified their decision to entitle me with the achievement, and has given me an invitation to Shinrarta Dezhra. I'll have to make the flight out later this week and see just what they have to offer me. If you haven't been able to tell by listening, I am a lover of opportunities. Leave your windows open, and I will probably take all the pleasure in the world in climbing through. It's just a matter of the right opportunities to come along right now.
All in all, I have plenty of work to do in a universe so chaotic. I'll just take it smooth and easy on my way through space until the chance presents itself for me to leave a permanent mark on history, on life, on humanity. Dreams of grandeur forespoken with struggles of mundanity.
Commander Brenner Soriah, signing off.
