More of a lichen than the fungus that they resemble. They have a similar musty flavour to ancient Earth truffles, but the process of metabolising Deuringas's metal-rich rocks leaves trace amounts of metals on its surface - which is why Deuringas truffles must be shaved in preparation for eating.
