Commander Adrella//SJCS Magellan//3308-02-11 - Using mass codes to explore

11 Feb 2022Adrella
So, after years spent exploring the galaxy, I've finally learned that I'm doing it all wrong. I've now learned about mass codes, what different star classes mean, what planets will likely orbit them and that I can just link to EDSM to reference planetary information rather than record it all in my logs.

This is going to change how I explore and record my findings.

<<WREGOE SECTOR>>
>Wregoe LM-W d1-13: A binary star system, which unfortunately contains no planets. The stars were a Class G4 VA and a Class M3 VA.

>Wregoe LM-W d1-46: Contains a K3 VAB star and orbited by an asteroid belt, 15 planets, two of which are in binary orbits, while the 7th and 12th have moons.
- D1-46 1 only has a radius of 212km, and orbits extremely close to the star, only 12.8 Ls away, making it very hot. My poor suit was nearly cooked when I stepped out of my SRV. It rotates and orbits the star in 1.8 days, making it tidally locked. I also detected sulphur dioxide gas vents.

- D1-46 2 is also small, at only 883km and only 24.4 Ls away. Also tidally locked, the planet orbits the star in 4.7 days. I detected a distress beacon, dispatched the skimmers guarding the site and picked up some salvage and survivors.
- D1-46 3 and 4 are 34.1 Ls from the star in a binary orbit, completing it in 1.3 days. Found sulphur dioxide fumaroles, silicate vapour gas vents and silicate magma lava spouts on 3. 4 had nothing of interest.

- D1-46 5 sits 70 Ls away from the star, completing its orbit in 23.1 days. There were some expired distress beacons and wreckage.
- D1-46 6 wasn't interesting.
- D1-46 7 and its moon had traces of wreckage, but nothing of real interest.
- D1-46 8 wasn't interesting.
- D1-46 9 and 10 were in a binary orbit, but neither had anything interesting.

- D1-46 11 had a distress beacon. I set down to find skimmers, so destroyed them. Picked up one escape pod.
- D1-46 12 had nothing of interest, but it's moon had quite a bit of wreckage scattered over it.
- D1-46 13 wasn't interesting.
- D1-46 14 wasn't interesting.
- D1-46 15 had nothing of interest, but it's rings had a large LTD hotspot.

>Wregoe LM-W d1-45: A binary system with a Class F2 VI sub-dwarf and a Class K6 VA.
- A 1 is a water world with an orbital period of 1,144.5 days, completing a rotation in 0.8 days.

- B 1-9 are all high metal content worlds, making them fairly valuable. I defeated some skimmers on 4 and picked up a bunch of materials. I decided to settle in and rest, as it'd been a long day, and the view was pretty good.
