Hide And Seek - (A Mini Story)

[Date: May 7th, 3308]

[Time: 05:32]

[Location: T.O.C. Solaris Q4V-40N, Deriso]

This mini-story follows Violet Watkins, whom some might remember from my "Stuck in the Middle" story. This little story is in relation with Lord Radiums MARS story he's been doing. MARS: 7 - FOXHOUND - TITAN CONTRACTORS. It's a great read, would recommend.

- Violet Watkins. 17 years old

The young platinum-blonde-haired girl sat in her quarters onboard the Solaris twiddling her thumbs as she laid back on her bed pillow thinking about what had happened in the past few days aboard the Carrier. This young girl, Violet, memories when as far back as when Isabella had barged in and told her she was leaving for vacation with Aurora. It was sudden and incredibly abrasive to her privacy, she remembered getting upset at her for that, but knowing what followed that same day only hours later - Violet could see the worry in Isabella's eyes then and now understand what she meant.

Of course what followed was a disaster. May 1st. The carrier suddenly locked down. Violet could still feel the panic as her mind wandered back to the incident at Styx in the Ren Manufacturing Plant nearly a year ago. When armed men came in and tried taking the place over before they found it too hard for diplomacies and decided to shoot everyone. Including her father. She remembered being the only survivor in the dark quiet corridors and open factory areas. Several days of quiet while she grieved the loss of her father and her friends. All of them were murdered for nothing at all.

The nightmares and trauma of that incident stuck with her and so the blaring alarms and red lights that filled the Carrier frightened her near to death when they went off on May 1st. But when she found out the reason for the lockdown was because of both Isabella and Aurora, Violet's fear of what happened turned to anger and confusion. She was lied to. By the one person who swore to protect her and be by her side always. To be the big sister or mother for her she never had. She lied and fled with Aurora who was a war criminal. How could she do such a thing, she thought to herself. There was more. Violet picked up her PDA from off the side of her bed and looked at the Carrier-wide Internal Affairs article when it came out several days ago.

It read //Commander Aurora Adair Revealed as Crimson Venator.// She still felt the shock reading it. The Crimson Venators were a group of high-skilled black-ops that defected from the Federation and were known to have committed war crimes. Apparently, they were once called the Red Hunters when they served the Federal Navy - and Aurora's callsign was... "Foxhound". That was all Violet knew. How Isabella could defend someone like that was beyond her. What scared Violet the most was how kind and caring Aurora was to her. She never forgot being taught how to fly by her.

How Aurora let her take the controls and fly the three of them towards the carrier when they were out one day. She remembered when she sat down with Aurora and she had talked to her about what happened with her past. If she wanted to talk to anyone then she was the one to talk to about anything. That she was family just as much as Isabella was. The meer thought brought a smile to her face as she really liked Aurora. But it quickly faded when she remembered what she read. That Aurora was a war criminal.

Violet sprung off her bed and began pacing around the small quarters she had as she started to think deeper and deeper about what was going on. She knew Isabella wouldn't just go running with a war criminal. It didn't make sense to her. Firstly, she'd had to have known otherwise she wouldn't have done something so foolish. She had to know before the incident of her file being released. That or something was wrong about it. Maybe there was a bigger picture to it all. The Federation had completed their investigation and she remembered being questioned due to her relations with Isabella. She said nothing, of course, even if she did know where they went, she wouldn't rat them out.

Mainly because, something seemed off and she wanted to find out what was going on before the Federation or squadron found them first. The only thing that really pissed Violet off was the fact that she was lied to and that she had no idea who or what Aurora was. That, and her abusive mother had suddenly remembered she had a daughter and wanted her back. That, simply, wasn't going to happen. She was out here in Colonia and the only person who took looked after and cared about her was in hiding. She couldn't sit and deal with her mother nagging and threatening her to return home or she'd report Violet as a kidnapped child.

All Violet wanted was the truth in the end. She picked looked down at the PDA and opened up the other Internal Affairs articles. She looked through the last few recent ones and tapped on one that read //SOF Tethys Established//. She skimmed through the article reading parts that were quoted about the creation and task of SOF Tethys. They were to eliminate Crimson Venators but take Aurora alive. There wasn't any mention of Isabella, so her immediate worry was that they might target her, thinking she was one of 'them'.

Violet paced back and forth even faster as her worry became a fear that was likely to happen. She needed to come up with something. She tried to send a direct message to Isa a few days ago but got no reply from her. What if something was wrong with their communication or... and then it clicked. Obviously, they would be covering their digital trail, most likely, to avoid being tracked.

Violet rested her fingers on the bottom of her chin as she paced within her quarters before a light in her head went on. She had an idea. She could simply find a way onboard a ship apart of SOF Tethys - that force of CSF operatives. She did it before, back in Styx to get to the man who took everything from her. She snapped her fingers as she figured out a plan. If they were going on a hunt, they'd need supplies. So all she'd have to do is follow the logistics to the right hangar and that was the ship.

Violet smiled and moved to her locker where she opened it and reached inside for her flight suit. She dug around and felt it, pulling it out to reveal her teal-coloured Remlok flight suit. It wasn't the best suit as far as being inconspicuous goes, but it would have to do. All she needed was to follow the supplies being moved by CSF forces towards hangars. Figure out what bay it is then get on the pad without being spotted. Once there, she'd figure out a way to board the ship, whatever it was, and sneak her way on board.

She ran over the plan in her head a few times trying to psyche herself as she removed her casual clothes she usually wore and slipped into her suit. She thought about what might happen if she got to Isa or Aurora via using this SOF team as a piggyback but thinking that far only stressed her out more. All she needed to do was look out for CSF and cargo they might deliver, what bay they go to, and sneak on board.

Violet got her suit fitted on and glanced back at her locker. She wanted to check if there was anything else she needed... because she wouldn’t be coming back. She glanced inside at some of her own tools that she tinkered with occasionally, and some clothing she wore, but ultimately decided not to take any of it, except the nice blue jacket she got from Isa a few weeks ago as a gift. She took the jacket and slid it on over her torso until it sat snug to her form.

Picking up her PDA, she dropped it into one of her jacket pockets before taking a deep breath in and turning to the door.

“You got this, Violet. What’s the worst that could happen? Sneaking on board a special ops ship, easy peasy.”
