Commander's Log:

We often humorously refer to them as vampire stars, and I recall Ramforth once playfully dubbing one a Were-pyre star. The official term is brown dwarfs, yet when viewed through specialized filters revealing unseen spectrums, they transform into crimson orbs—almost resembling suspended drops of blood in the vastness of zero-gravity. The violet solar winds gracefully coil and rise from their surfaces, painting a mesmerizing celestial display.

Despite their beauty, a sense of disdain lingers within me. When navigating these stars with a Fleet Carrier and my trusted crew, led by Captain Blanchard, the journey is calculated with precision. However, when flying solo, regardless of the ship I command, entering their orbit from Witch-space into supercruise becomes an unnerving experience. Their gravitational wells are disproportionately expansive compared to their white or orange counterparts. Maneuvering within the calculated exclusion zone to evade their gravitational pull feels like threading a needle with little room for error.

Our trajectory towards [REDACTED] progresses smoothly, and the crew's anticipation is palpable. Eager for new discoveries, they seek respite from the political intrigues of civilization and the looming Thargoid conflict.

My own excitement is tempered by concerns about [REDACTED]. As of now, no communication has been received from their commanding officer, [REDACTED].

To prioritize our arrival at [REDACTED], no crew members are allowed to disembark from the carrier. Joyrides in the black must wait. Our jumping rhythm maintains a steady pace of approximately five hundred light-years every half hour, ensuring efficiency and focus. Once [REDACTED] is within reach, exploration and diversions will be indulged.

Most of my time is occupied in the office, sifting through logs, reports, and updates from the Galactic Vikings' main squadron, GUGNIR.

My goal is to reach [REDACTED] within a week, allowing for a deliberate pace. The daily jump count hovers around [REDACTED], considering an average jump length of ~500 light-years. While occasional acceleration may occur, I am mindful not to strain the crew.

AD ASTRA.
