Logbook entry

Pushing away the Old

A logbook isn't clean and clear unless its latest entry is. Thus, this.
Digging through the past entries makes me think I forgot a chronic fixation with tasty stimulants. Or was six years younger with twelve years less wisdom somehow.

So for the next twelve or twenty four or beyond, this was the day I undusted the dusty and uncomfortabled the comfortable in me. I scanned into the old allegiance drink fridges and found out that the last time they were touched was when I was the one that touched them. I looked around, I saw the lights still on. Obviously I didn't drink anything - although that would be an incredibly awe inspiring way to go out. But I saw all the best public services I knew and loved still available. Surprise, surprise, they weren't worldshatteringly state of the art, but I wore in the paint touch up button with pride. What stuck with me most today, though, was seeing my past notifications. None from leadership, none from the people under me, none angry or sad or scared. Just that I needed to delegate the operation to restock those fridges in 38 more star systems.

I blinked blankly on top of a tiny smile and saw to it personally. At least, the delegating part.
