600. This number was staggering when I set out. 600 jumps via the Neutron Highway back to the Bubble, give or take a few dozen more. Coming back from the beyond, back from Salom´e's Reach and back from the Abyss to more Star-dense space was the hardest thing. And then coping with the long days of loneliness. There's always a moment in every explorer's path, where you just cannot do it any more. Where you just want to come home, to be home. I once wrote I'm a creature of space, like all explorers, and yet at the same time we are so vulnerably human, so much longing for connection, that the Black can eat your soul. But then again, this won't bring you closer to home one dang light second. So do what you do best: pilot and explore!
And when you do enough of that, enough of the piloting and the exploring, you get home.
