CMDR Eric Vons POV

I bring the L.L.V. Hubward in slowly and carefully docking with the other ship. After the docking sequence is finished I rise and slowly head to the airlock. I sigh as I do so. 'Alone, On my ship.' I think as I reach the airlock and wait for the door to cycle and allow me to cross ships. I look around remembering the time I spent on the ship. I shake my head pushing the memories out of my mind as the airlock cycle completes and turn to face the door. It slides open and I step through. On the other side I look back once before I look at my welcome committee. "I'm ready." I look at the new pilot of the Hubward. "Take good care of her and she will make sure she gets you back in one piece. Even if it costs her everything." I said gesturing to the Hubward. "Don't worry Commander Eric Vons. Imperial Intelligence Division pilots always take care of their ships. She's going to be in good hands and I am strict on my maintenance crews." The pilot said before stepping aboard the Cobra mk lll, formerly the L.L.V. Hubward, and cycling the airlock again.

I follow the remainder of my escort to the medical pod on the Keelback. After they used a brain scan device to copy my consciousness to my new body. I looked at the 'new' me. Then I took a deep breath. "Let's get this over with." I said. The plan was simple. They transferred me to the new body and while the new me gets all caught up on everything, a short lasting neural copy of me goes and gets my old body killed. Intelligence has decided to have me assault a planetary settlement port.

They dropped me off in a Federal Military Port. The idea was to give the Federation something to worry about. It would cause them to pay some more attention to that particular system and allow Imperial Intelligence to extract an undercover operative from the Beta Hydri system. They'd already had the extraction ship, courtesy of me, assessed the risk of war with the Federation that this incident would cause to be reasonably manageable, and just needed to get some sucker to play the bait, that of course was the old me with the flash neural copy. I, or rather the copy of me, was equipped with my personal loadout of choice. A Manticore Tormentor and a Remlock flight suit.

After the Keelback had departed I left the cargo container I was concealed in. I drew my Manticore Tormentor and started to make my way to the armory. I planned to avoid detection for as long as possible but it was not possible for that to happen. I made it about halfway there before I was spotted. I shot first and then everything went on alert. The assault was short, fast, and brutal. I forced my way into the armory before I got critically injured. Unable to keep fighting I finished the job and bit down hard on a capsule in the corner of my mouth. The cyanide worked fast leaving the Federal forces with only questions and a body. The diplomatic incident that was caused by this would be a small enough of an incident that both the Federation and the Empire kept it relatively quiet and away from the larger news sources. Although it would still get published. Mainly in the papers of the local Imperial and Federal systems in the area.
