Jameson's Ghost - Disturbing New Report
23 Nov 2024Jameson's Ghost
[Galnet News Report - 23rd November 3310]Galnet news has been investigating the terrorist who calls himself "Jameson's Ghost" since stories first appeared about him earlier this year. A few weeks ago we were able to confirm that this individual had formerly been a member of the League of Reparation, a secretive terrorist organisation dedicated to avenging the victims of INRA by assassinating the descendants of INRA personnel, but had been expelled from that group for undertaking unsanctioned operations including the bombing of a hospital rescue ship near Thargoid-controlled space, in which thirty people died.
New reports have shocked even us here at Galnet News. It has been reported to Galnet by a confidential source inside the League of Reparation that Jameson's Ghost has allied himself with a splinter group within the Far God Cult. This group, as many Galnet readers will be aware is a radical religious group that worships what they call "The Far God", and what we call the Thargoids.
Until now the Far God Cult has remained peaceful, however after recent victories against the Thargoid titans that first arrived in the bubble in 3308, bringing chaos and destruction with them, it's now being rumoured that an as yet unnamed splinter group seeks to punish those responsible for the destruction of the titans. Jameson's Ghost claims to be the legendary Commander John Jameson and has vowed revenge against all those responsible for Jameson's death in the first Thargoid war.
It's being reported that this splinter group is being headed by none other than Seo Jin-ae, a former Aegis operative who now claims to be able to communicate with the Thargoids. Jin-ae has always claimed to be an ally of Aegis, though splinters have been seen in that relationship, most notably last year when she leaked logs of Aegis conversations to the public, confirming the Thargoid mass abduction of humans. Jin-ae is also known to have links to the Far God Cult.
Should this report turn out to be true it is an alarming development in the ongoing Thargoid war. Jameson's Ghost has remained resolutely in the shadows, but allying himself with Jin-ae and this splinter group would give both of them, and potentially the Thargoids, an assassin directly inside the bubble, able to move freely and undetected, making many people who have stood against the Thargoids, the Far God Cult, and Jin-ae herself, potential targets.
It is also unclear what Jin-ae's motivation for this move, if true, might be. Some people have been suggesting that she is building forces so that she can become a major power in the galaxy, representing peace between Humanity and the Thargoids. How Jameson's Ghost would fit with this narrative is unclear, but the Empire, Federation, and Alliance have all previously confirmed to Galnet that they are aware of the threat posed by Jameson's Ghost and are taking the matter seriously.
Could Jameson's Ghost even strike inside the circles of one of the major powers. Currently both Edmund Mahon and Aisling Duval are riding high in the polls, with more than 2,500 controlled systems between them. There has been a huge surge in interest in the major powers in recent weeks. This has both drawn attention to the key players, and also caused some disruption within some of the major camps. This is potentially something that dark forces could take advantage of.
Galnet will continue to monitor the situation, and when we have more to share we'll post here.
