Aurora's POV

I flipped through the channels. In my time aboard the ship as a passenger I had watched most of the imperial entertainment that I found interesting and was trying to find something new. Or at least tolerable when the channel suddenly switched to Galnet.

Titan Cocijo Moves Deeper into Core Systems

The last remaining Thargoid Titan, Cocijo, has unexpectedly left the Col 285 Sector BA-P c6-18 system.

Reports from human AX forces fighting through surrounding systems to expose the Titan say it has reverted to the transient signal source detected prior to the Titan’s arrival on the edges of human space. Travelling at phenomenal speeds, Cocijo appears to be heading further into the core systems.

A general alert has been raised in all populated systems. Aden Tanner, special military advisor to Aegis, gave the following statement via all newsfeeds:

“Aegis sensors have confirmed that Cocijo is on a path deep into human territory. Rather than seek to escape from the war, the final Titan intends to bring the fight to our heartlands.”

“Precautionary evacuation efforts have begun in Sol, based on our earliest predictions of Cocijo’s trajectory. But all civilians must be prepared to evacuate their homes at short notice. Our first priority is to minimise casualties wherever it arrives – we saw the devastating effect of a Titan beachhead in the first days of the invasion and must do our best to avoid any repeat of this.” I shut off the entertainment system and begin to pace. They would need help and I had a bunch of ships that could help. And I knew exactly how to get them there. With my mind made up, I head for the cockpit.

Upon entering I find my pilot, Vallarta Stenaw, at the controls and I catch the end of a conversation before the line goes dead. "I'll drop her off at the site you just told me. Then I am heading to Sol. Have my payment ready." "I presume that you are going to Sol to assist with the rescue efforts?" I asked as I entered. "Yes, and you are going to Rho Platform." Vallarta replied. "But I can help with the rescue and defense of Sol. All I need is for you to get me there." "I don't care. I am being paid a billion credits to drop you off at Rho Platform. Then I have to get this ship refitted for AX operations." "So you won't because you are getting paid. Fine, name your price to take me to Sol. I can pay you more than a billion. A lot more." "Fine, six billion credits." "Deal. I'll give you half now and the other half upon arrival of the resources under my control to the system." I extend my hand and tapped a console authorizing a transfer of three billion credits to my pilot. She gaped as the transfer went through. "Who are you?" "Someone who has more money than there are reasonable uses for it." "You don't say. Alright, Lady, you have a deal. I will let you know when we have docked for refitting and arrive in Sol." "Thank you." I watch as she jumps the ship into hyperspace before heading back to my cabin to make a recording.
