Aurora's POV
The Clipper landed on the pad. While I had put out a call for the Prifma Taskforce to provide assistance in Sol they had yet to show up. As I discussed with my pilot I would be compensating them handsomely for keeping me aboard. 50 million for each evacuation run we completed together. I disembarked with our security team and approached the line of station security who held back the flood of desperate people trying to get out of the system. "Senator Rebia." One of the station security greeted me. "Officer." I replied. "How many?" "We can take 84." "That's it? There's over 100 people we're holding back here." The officer gestures at the crowd. "That's unfortunate. However, we have as many economy cabins installed as possible." I said diplomatically. "Alright. We'll get you your 84 from the crowd." "Families first. Prioritize women and children." I said. "That's going to make this harder you know." "That's why we brought some extra hands." I gesture to the security group accompanying me. "Alrighty then." The officer sighed. Then he announced the number of passengers to be boarded to the crowd. Grumbling filled the air as 84 people pushed through the line of officers and boarded the Stella Viator. Then three things happened in rapid succession. A male voice yelled from the crowd. A gunshot echoed off the walls of the hanger. And the bullet struck the opposite wall of the hanger. "DAMN, YOU RICH IMPERIAL BITCH. IF I CAN'T LEAVE THIS STATION ON THAT SHIP OF YOURS YOU WON'T EITHER." The crowd scattered screaming. My security team pushed through into the crowd and dragged the shooter out to our side of the security line forcing him to his knees after they disarmed him.
The station security officer I had been interacting with apologized. "Senator. On behalf of the Federation I am sorry this happened. I would put them in a cell where they would eventually stand trial normally but with the chaos across the system that won't work as there's no one to watch the cells. Besides I hear the titan has arrived in the system already and the attacks on evacuation ships and the stations have increased drastically. So this might be the last time you see this port again." "So what are you suggesting officer?" "I think you should carry out whatever sentence you see fit, Senator." "Very well." I looked at the man who just tried to shoot me. "So if you can't get off this station I shouldn't either. Hmm, if you want off so badly then come on." I said gesturing to the Stella Viator. The man looked surprised that he was being invited along after attempting to shoot me. So did the security officer. "Oh, I don't think his ride is going to be comfortable. And I have an idea of where he can be placed for justice to be administered properly. Assuming the Thargoids don't breach the airlock first." I said as I gesture to the cargo doors airlock. The man stops when he realizes where he's going to ride. "I ain't riding in no airlock." "Then you don't get off the station alive. Because I may be wrong about this but the Federation has capital punishment for attempting to shoot a visiting diplomat official. Especially when that person is a rather powerful person in the government." The man made a noise in his throat and scrambled for the cargo doors airlock. "Well, I suppose we had better get out of here." I gesture to the private security group the Stella Viator pilot had hired and boarded the ship. It wasn't long before we lifted off the pad and departed the station.
