My small part in the Sol Thargoid war, (The second bit)

19 Dec 2024Tannock
On the 11 DEC 3310, as I entered the Sol system I was interdicted by a Thargoid interceptor. This was expected as it was the bugs' last stand, the interference from the field titan Cocjo was annoying but did not make things impossible. I decided to help at Haberlant Survey located on Europa. I believe that fighting them this close to the moon's surface was an advantage for us humans. I was as if they had no experience of dog fighting under the influence of gravity.

News begun to filter in that the Thargoids had been defeated in Groombridge 34, LHS 380 and Barnard's Star, this news gave me confidence that together, we had a chance at winning this thing.

It was hard fought and in the end we managed to drive the Thargoids off Europa, I was off to defend Abraham Lincoln space port, it was getting hammered by the bugs. The fight here was harder, the enemy seemed to be born for dog fighting in practically zero gravity. With my limpets dangerously depleted on a few occasions, I had to fly out system to resupply as no base in Sol had supplies. Every time I re-entered Sol, a death flower was only too happy to interdict me and try and take me out.

By the 13 Dec 3310 we were finally able to drive the bugs back off of Abraham Lincoln, it was at this time we got news that titan Cocijo was vulnerable. At fist I went into protect the bombers, it was the toughest fighting I have been part of. My Black Strike was battered to almost the point of no return several times. Thanks to he tireless individuals on the surviving rescue ships, Black Strike and I were patched up and good to go every time.

It was five days of get in, hurt the titan as much as you can, get out, repair then repeat the process before the last titan fell.
