McCoy Spaceways was formally established by CMDR Julian McCoy in late 3301 as a small trading outfit. The company has since then expanded into the passenger transport market with the creation of subsidiaries McCoy's Luxury Space Tours and the McCoy Galactic service, although their primary focus as a trading business still remains. Notably, McCoy Spaceways claims exploitation rights over DRYAO CHROA IH-V B45-2, surrounding systems and the entire region, citing their founders' right of first discovery.

McCoy Spaceways' offices and assets are overseen by subsidiary holding corporation The Brotherhood of The Dark Circle, which began integration into its corporate structure in early 3302 before being completely bought out in early 3303.

Most notably, McCoy Spaceways is known to take a stance supportive of Thargoids and against Human aggression towards them, and as a result forbids all corporate and subsidiary members from participating in anti-Thargoid activities, while prohibiting and actively countering any such activities occurring within its areas of influence.

The McCoy Spaceways corporation is the original founding member of the HIP 13644 Local Defence Coalition. Initially formed between it, factions adjacent to it's sphere of influence and other selected partners, it now also encompasses many factions who openly share a wish for peaceful interactions and cessation of hostilities with the Thargoids.

In mid 3308, after spearheading the anti-Sirius Corporation resistance in the Di Jian system, the McCoy Spaceways corporation united with various diplomats and representatives from Alliance member systems, resulting in the formation of the McCoy Spaceways-Alliance Strategic Partnership. This arrangement sees the corporation providing selected Alliance member system governances with access to significant amounts of funding, military equipment, and even a uniquely commissioned series of Fleet Carrier vessels in order to counter the influence of the Sirius-Alliance Defence Pact.

In early-to-mid 3310, having been rocked by several scandals, the corporation and its assets fell into dormancy and have remained that way since.
