The casual crew are a loosely knit collection of friends,  some former explorers, traders and miners and a sprinkling of ex-military types.   Dis-illusioned with "the man",  this growing group have been taking over the local entertainment industry.  Often suspected of running money laundering operations.

When incumbent criminal bosses initially noticed this, there was some brief and decisive conflicts.  Opponents learned to their cost that there is nothing casual about the skills of the elite pilots of the "Casual crew".  Opposition quickly chose to look elsewhere for softer targets.

These days they are mostly portrayed as friendly freebooters and smugglers, running good quality bars with live music.  

Often tolerated by federation and empire factions and other organisations, mainly because they can be called upon to help out in local conflicts and also because they keep out other, murkier, elements.
