Welcome, commander, to the 8th Dragon Squadron. The most rag-tag, badly behaved, juiced
up and fun-loving bunch of starship pilots this side of the Milky Way.
"Mercenary group, the 8th Dragon Squadron, were formed by a group of commanders who,
under the employ of President Vidar Vondell of Gold Vision Co in Eta Draconis, were given the
task of bringing the system into the Alliance of Independent Systems control. After their
first successful mission, many commanders of the 8th Dragon Squadron made the decision
to continue working together for the interests of various local factions throughout
populated space. The 'Dragons' bear no allegiance to the Empire, Federation or Alliance, nor do
they pledge fealty to any smaller governmental bodies. The 8th Dragon Squadron are loyal
only to themselves and their current contract. Their motto, 'Ubi Concordia, Ibi Victoria'
meaning 'Where there is Unity, there is Victory', aptly describes the solid foundations on
which the group is built."
As a group, our aim is to work as a team towards a common goal. This normally involves the
group supporting one of the many thousands of minor factions that are distributed
throughout populated space, in a co-ordinated effort to alter local politics and ultimately
ensure that our chosen faction becomes the controlling power in a system.
When our 'contract' is completed, we move on to the next. 'Campaigns' can take anything from a few
weeks to several months to complete, depending on our goals and the size of the system
involved. Our activities require communication, co-ordination, and a strong emphasis on cooperative
play.
You will get to know your Dragon brothers and sisters well, and we pride
ourselves on our friendliness, our willingness to help our comrades and the general
camaraderie and laid back approach to what we do in a game that we are all extremely
passionate about.
