For the next 200 years, the fortunes of the Sluggers rose and fell. At times, the company became almost unknown, but by the late 19th Century it had once again cast its reach to all corners of the globe. For an extended period in the 20th Century, there is almost no mention of the Red Slug Company whatsoever.
It wasn't until the late 1990's that the company reemerged. From this point, it went from strength to strength. By the mid 21st Century, the Red Slug Trading Company had become the foremost logistics service on the planet. Their dominance continued for two centuries, before, once again, disappearing from records quite suddenly.
In 2879, the company name resurfaced once more as a startup courier service by one Dick Moulin. It is uncertain whether Moulin found the name from ancient records, or whether he thought of it independently, merely by coincidence. The company today claim that Moulin was a descendent of the original Sluggers, and that his forebears had kept the organisation secret for some sinister, unknown purpose. Regardless of the current company's origins, the Red Slug Trading Company has risen through the ranks of the galaxy's most renowned couriers over the past five centuries and has even begun to branch out to offer wider and more varied services, including bounty-hunting, deep-space exploration and tourism.
Today, the company bases its operations in the system HIP 9216. Here, the sluggers call Goldreich Orbital their home. Pilots are generally able to find what they need in Goldreich, though the food available on the station leaves much to be desired. It is otherwise a good hub to trade goods and materials, as well as outfit ships with basic components.
Recent company endeavours have seen an explosion of growth for its member base. The Company now runs events intended to provide entertainment for more seasoned pilots, as well as ones to assist those who are less experienced.
