History
On March 18, 3301 a call was sent out by an independent faction known as the Crimson State Group in the system of Lugh for any and all CMDR's to help them throw off the unwanted rule of the Federation in their system. This call was answered by many, and among them was the fledgling squad of smugglers and fighters known as Liberty's Last Armada (Often shortened down to Liberty's Last Army, or LLA for slang) This group of 4-5 CMDR's had worked closely through their careers in the past, but in this struggle for freedom of an entire system, something bigger was realized. Freedom fighting could make big money. This was noted by a CMDR by the name of Roy Blackwell, who quickly advanced on this opportunity, and made a proposition to his closest wingmates in LLA (CMDR Mindtrixx and Papa OJ). They would form a corporation of guns for hire to do dirty work for a faction, and if a rival faction offered more money, they would work the other side. The three continued working small jobs around Lugh for a time, but as they increased in wealth and influence, other pilots with their same mindset wanted in as well. Soon they were running an operation of 16 pilots, and growing! This was when Roy and OJ sat down and considered the bigger picture for LLA. One thing was certain, and that was the need for a central base of operation. This was when LLA began to look for a quiet system where no big faction would get in the way of their questionable means of business. On Decemeber 3, 3301 they found that system in Don. Controlled by a democratic Federal faction, with only a distant connection to Federal disputes and policy, the system of Don was a perfect place to plant roots and call home. Initially hired on as mercenary's for an independent corporation known as the Don Network, a bond stuck, and Liberty's Last Army became the official fighting force for the Don Network. With this coalition, LLA was able to usurp Alcala Station from a local dictatorship to use as their HQ, and they were able to drive out a local pirate gang known as the Tsogabri Jet Pirates. Alas, nothing gold can stay, and while not known at the time, a dreaded power was about to lock heads with the Don Network.Upon the exit of the Tsogabri Jet Pirates, Federal observation of Don increased, and one of the Federations many manufacturing corporations moved into Don. Azaka Gold Ltd. was the foreign company's name. With their backing of federal dollars and support directly from the Federal armada itself, not even the valiant efforts of LLA could stop the loss of reputation by the Network. Eventually Azaka Gold LTD. desired their own place to base shipping lanes out of in Don, and their first target was Alcala. As tensions between the two companies grew, demand for an election was held by the people in order to avoid an outright war. This was generally accepted, and the Network won the majority vote. But every month or so the demand came back for an election, and every month the Network managed to barely hold onto their station. Eventually the pressure was too great, and the station was federalized. This greatly hurt the morale of Liberty's Last Armada, and many of it's pilots scattered through the known reaches of space. CMDR's Geoff Hunter and Papa OJ, two of the hardened veterans in LLA left for Empire space, promising they would get help, and return one day to reclaim Alcala for the Network. Nothing was heard from them for nearly half a year, until one day when an Imperial Cutter was spotted in the system and identified as an Liberty pilot. While this raised hope for the Network, it also raised hope for the other native factions who were also under the looming threat of being wiped off the face of existence by the Azaka Gold LTD. Even as the Cutter was spotted in the system, a war was being held between the Don Justice Party and the Azaka Gold LTD. One Liberty Pilot described the battlegrounds as a slaughter for the Justice party. They were outclassed, and outgunned. It was at this point, when freedom seemed to be at it's last whisps when two anonymous LLA fighters almost single-handedly routed one of the Federations Farragut Battle Cruisers stationed in Don. While the DJP still lost the war, Don's minor factions were invigorated to keep up the fight against the Federation by what those two pilots did. Since then, little has been heard from LLA. Some rumors have it that they are headed out to the unknown reaches of space to help repair Jaque's Station, while others say they are running multi-million credit smuggling runs from far off systems. One thing is held certain by Don and surrounding systems, though. That one day Liberty's Last Armada will return to help them as they helped those in Lugh.
