History
The Titans of Galaxias is an organization founded in honor of the ancient Greek Titans and the combined ambition of two minor companies.Most are more familiar with the Gods, which while powerful in their own right, could not have been if not for the first. The Titans were human in their interests, and flaws of course, which ultimately led to the creation of mankind. So as the mythos goes, all humankind contains some piece of this titan legacy, which is exactly why it seemed only fitting to bring this perspective to commanders who in such a vast galaxy can sometimes lose sight of their greater purpose.
To explore. To empower and to support. These are the fundamental beliefs that our squadron is built on.
Formed on the 1st September 3305, in the remote system of Epsilon Orionis, as a merger of the Titan Mining Initiative and the Galaxia Traders Union. Both companies arrived in the system, allied to find new mining sites so that a trade hub may one day be established in the barren system. A joint planetary recon mission between the two groups on E.O. AB 4b was unknown to them, the final mission that the two groups would take as separate entities.
Upon landing, they were greeted by geologically active sights in abundance, the discovery data alone heralding a new financial era for both. A discovery which neither was intending to make. It was then that the two minor groups under the light of Epsilon Orionis agreed that their sole focus on mining the galaxy was a nonsense. This journey had shown to everyone there that the galaxy had far more to offer than sub surface deposits.*
With their combined resources the two groups could do so much more. From exploring lost corners of the galaxy, to joining in efforts to protect starports from Thargoid incursions. As a united front, they realised their purpose to contribute and influence a higher purpose in the galaxy, and so, the Titans of Galaxias were born.
Progress was slow to start. Some members of the separate groups decided not to continue following the merger which made it difficult for those leading the project to get it off the ground. After venturing back to the bubble and gradually spreading their message of empowerment, community and ambition through the populated core systems, finally, in mid 3306, the new organisation began to take shape. In pooling their resources, the group were able to help many of its members afford the ships that previously they could not. Once concerned with profit, this new organisation could not be more different. Generosity was the heart of this group.
After several weeks exploring beyond the bubble, supporting new commanders and working with the galactic community the rapidly growing group received their true calling. A glitch in the galactic economy combined with a manufacturing flaw in the interstellar telepresence technology allowed the Titans of Galaxias to cash in on an unprecedented mining boom. In their participation, the group acquired billions of credits in wealth though nobody intended for this to be hoarded. As fast as the money was flowing in, the squadron was determined to allocate all of these profits to its aid projects, which of course it did.
The year is now 3307. The gold rush halted to a stop toward the end of 3306 and the Titans of Galaxias returned to regular business. Gradually continuing to grow, the squadron has recently begun to form new partnerships with other squadrons in their effort to make the galactic community just a little less toxic than it once was.
