TCON - First Anniversary

See our First Anniversary Video

Our Story So Far
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Hi everyone, my name's Radium, I am the owner of TITAN Contractors, and I'm super happy to finally be able to say that it's our squadron's first anniversary, and I'd like to give a little background story of how we got here.

TITAN Contractors first started somewhat officially on the 23rd of January last year, and our goal initially at that time was to provide a stable, small environment for new players to learn the game, but still participate in an actual squadron with other people. We also wanted to give new players an opportunity to see the exploration side of Elite Dangerous, and be able to experience and see some of the jaw-dropping locations in the game.

So we started out first trip on the 18th of June 2020, codenamed Trip Gamma, where we explored some of the Thargoid and Guardian sites littering the outskirts of the bubble. This event was pretty fun and I'm still super proud of the commemoration video for it, as it marked our first journey into putting ourselves out there into the community. This unfortunately had a low amount of participation as we were just figuring out how to actually advertise ourselves.

Trip Gamma finished on the 31st of July, and when it ended, we started to plan our next trip a few months later. We still had motivation to hold onto the idea of doing expedition trips for the wider community. And so, Trip Epsilon was born on 21st of October in 2020, and explored a creepy part of Elite's lore: the Generation Ships. This, so far was our biggest trip, it brought in dozens of people and even had us mentioned on two awesome radio shows, the Hutton Orbital show and the Elite Week podcast. If you haven't heard of these, do yourself a favour and check them out.

By the end of the trip, we'd grown to around a hundred members and that alone was a huge motivating factor. Clearly, if we marketed ourselves well, people genuinely did like these trips. And as time went on after TRIP Epsilon, our community discord became more advanced.

We incorporated a RSS feed directly into our Discord to post GalNet articles - allowing people to read the in-game news outside of the game - we linked the official Elite Dangerous accounts so people can get notifications from the devs, and we launched our own Internal Affairs news service and started to build our own squadron narrative to link into in-game events and our own initiatives. All of this became possible because of the community.

We're super grateful that we get to celebrate our first anniversary with the dozens of Commanders in our community. If you're watching our anniversary video before the 29th of January 2021, our third trip, TRIP Sigma, is still ongoing and exploring some beautiful sights around the bubble, and we don't intend to stop there. 2021 is going to be an awesome year for Elite Dangerous and we plan to have many more quality trips, especially revolving around the new upcoming content.

From the staff and me personally; we'd just like to say - thank you. Thank you for showing an interest in our squadron and allowing us to keep making these events. We hope to celebrate our coming anniversaries with you all once more. Fly safe.
