Tori finishes up the samples for Bacterium Acies, and embarks the TSV Journey as crews prepare to rest the vessel here for tonight.
Bacterium Acies derives its energy from a neon-based atmosphere using chemosynthesis. Usually, this would result in more diverse colors, however icy frost covers most of the bacterial life on this world. Its formation also resembles an erratic swirly pattern, similar to other bacterium.
The sampling of Bacterium Acies marks the completion of the entire Bacterium genus, meaning two entire genera - Aleoids and Bacterium - have been sampled by the TSV crew, with decent progress made in other species. 13 unique biological organisms were sampled today, leaving only 50 organisms left to sample in total.
One anomalous incident occurred today which endangered the lives of the crew. Thankfully, due to the swiftness of AECU teams, only one EVA member - Luna - suffered minor injuries. The anomaly has been noted down for future investigation.

Bacterium Informem is discovered by Tori within the Hyades Sector DR-V C2-23 - which is known for being the location of famous tourist hotspot 'Dav's Hope'.
Bacterium Informem, similar to Fonticulua Lapidis, is dependent on a nitrogen atmosphere to survive. The pattern it forms is rather shapeless, but was remarked by survey teams to "look like fallen leaves".

While searching for Bacterium Informem, Tori comes across a much more common type of life on this planet - one part of the Fonticulua genus.
Fonticulua Lapida is a type of Fonticulua that grows pearl-like pods. When the pods grow too big, they can break off and form new colonies. This particular species only exists in atmospheres with high concentrations of nitrogen. The plant also likely uses photosynthetic cells along its 'trunk' to produce the energy it requires.

As expected, Tori's expertise smashes it out the park yet again, and all genetic samples are retrieved - in what might as well be record time.
Bacterium Volu appears as a spiralling mass across the ground. Some of the colonies can grow incredibly big. This species depends on oxygen atmospheres to survive, but might also expand its surface area to utilise photosynthesis as an energy production process.

TSV Journey survey teams are almost prepared to call it and order Tori to return back to the ship, but minutes before - she reports that all samples of Bacterium Scopulum have been retrieved.
As suspected, the Scopulum thrives on carbon volcanism, utilising the heat for thermosynthesis to survive - or alternatively burrowing under the subsoil as a substitute. They appear as swirling lines chiselled into the ground, with a black-ish ring surrounding the colony.
Tori is congratulated by survey teams for her brave work, considering the recent events. Background electromagnetic radiation grows in intensity as the TSV Journey remains on the surface, so plans to depart are made immediately.

Medical teams worry for Tori's wellbeing as she roams this icy wasteland for around an hour, combining on-foot exploration with SRV support.
A small comms window affords us an opportunity to talk to Tori, who persists to continue the survey in spite of mild exhaustion. Medical teams hesitantly comply with the request, but the TSV Journey prepares for a rapid descent if need be.

Samples of Bacterium Scopulum are so hard to come by on this world, that research teams were convinced our genetic sampling equipment was faulty after normal soil appeared as Scopulum upon scanning.
It was then discovered that some types of Scopulum favour living under the subsoil as a substitute for carbon volcanism. Given its scarcity already, the science team are surprised that Tori is still making progress on the samples.
While our solo pioneer treks across the ominous landscape in spite of the background electromagnetic interference, medical teams have temporarily suspended Luna from further EVA operations after they discover internal trauma caused by her SRV roll - but our medical officers constantly reiterate that the medical facilities aboard the Journey are capable enough for a large variety of treatments.

Medical teams checkout Luna prior to us landing on another gloomy planet in this system to complete our survey of Bacterium Scopulum. She is unable to tell us what happened, other than "she wasn't in her SRV when it flipped into the crater".
Security teams are hesitant to allow further surveys in-system and suspend further EVAs, but this decision was overridden by the Atlas team leader and Captain. AECU Exobiologist Tori May is sent out on a solo operation to retrieve the samples before the TSV Journey departs the system.

AECU return to the rendezvous after Specialist Aurora Adair manages to confirm she has located Luna. Careful usage of the jetpack in this hazardous terrain allows her to reach Luna's position, and the TSV Journey lands at the emergency RV nearby.
Medical teams are deployed, but once all crew are onboard, security advise that we depart this haunted planet immediately.

Strange electromagnetic interference forces the TSV Journey to the ground. In the midst of the interference, Luna's position is roughly triangulated as a short signal bounces off the ship's comms relay. Security teams order the operations crew to lockdown the ship, and an AECU team splits up to locate the exobiologist.
AECU teams are forced to mute their communications and go dark as the stochastic clicking inhibits proper communication, and electromagnetic interference prevents further tracking. Prior to departure, the teams receive the emergency rendezvous coordinates, and the TSV Journey departs to orbit to preserve system integrity.

We descend down to our previous landing zone and reconnoitre the surrounding area. Our communications return and connect us back to Arthur and Tori as we approach. During the communication blackout, Arthur has discovered a recon SRV belonging to Luna.
The SRV is currently unoccupied with no sign of Luna nearby. We order recovery of the SRVs and take to the dark skies to locate her, issuing an emergency rendezvous point to Tori nearby.

The TSV Journey enters a state of alert as SRV and communication malfunctions are reported amongst the EVA teams. A few minutes after, and two of our three EVA teams go dark and refuse to respond to the TSV Journey.
Arthur, one of our recon specialists, still maintains communications, although just barely. He reports stochastic clicking noises on the commlink, as well as more sightings of lights. We urge Arthur to keep himself safe just before we lose communications with him as well.
A plan is set into action immediately to find our lost EVA teams no matter what, but security teams remind the Captain that the Journey is not equipped for a combat situation.

Just like other types of bacteria, this bacterium thrives on a specific atmosphere type and is characterised by a radial pattern expanding from the centre. This particular species needs helium in the atmosphere to survive.
Due to the bacteria's appearance, this species is remarkably easier to spot, which leads to quick sample collection.

Low-light conditions complicate surveying as EVA teams spend large amounts of time searching for biological life. Water magma geysers are discovered, which may house life nearby. In favour of more thorough exploration, SRVs are retrieved and EVA teams proceed on-foot in highly hazardous terrain.
Full samples of Bacterium Verrata are eventually recovered. This Bacterium distinguishes itself by arranging itself in a honeycomb-like, cracked pattern. As hypothesised, research teams discover that this bacterial life finds its home near water-based volcanism.
Prior to departure, survey teams also witness incredible sights in a region of high volcanism, including some spectacularly large geyser eruptions.

The TSV Journey approaches this dead world. Were it not for the advanced sensors onboard the vessel, signs of bacterial life would not have been detected.
Temperatures plummet way below safe levels, and engineering teams worry about potential damage towards suit equipment. As such, EVA teams are advised to stick with their SRV, as the comparatively flat land on this planet makes driving at high-speeds in 0.5g much easier.
