We take to the stars as local security forces finish security vetting of the TSV Journey.
Aurora is also given the greenlight by medical teams as our investigation concludes that - while she was shot at the crash site - the energy shield of the suit absorbed the full impact of the round.
We begin our travel to Gliese 9119, the rumoured location of Fumerola Extremus.

Aurora searches the site's numerous locked containers, only to discover that this Anaconda crash-site was likely being used as a storage for illegal narcotics. We take what we can and report the illegal remainder to the local system security.
In the meantime, Tori reports that she has had great success locating Fumerola Carbosis samples. As suspected, these extremophiles survive by utilising volcanic heat emitted by fumaroles. Carbosis survives off carbon-based volcanism in particular, and appear as a thin upright cylinder with the inner organism extended out for increased absorption of heat.
The TSV Journey crew take a break on this world to ensure Aurora sustained no injuries in combat, and to remain present for local security force investigation.

We approach this interesting planet as we begin our survey for Fumerola Carbosis. We pick up signs of wreckage near our landing site, so AECU Specialist Aurora Adair is dispatched to take a look, while we deploy our exobiologists in the region.
While the TSV Journey is away, Aurora reports that the wreckage of the Anaconda-class vessel is occupied by a criminal faction. Before security teams can intervene, her SRV is spotted and Adair is forced to enter combat.
Thankfully, she was able to defend herself in the SRV, and secure the site prior to other AECU members arriving.

The TSV Journey lands on this argon-rich atmospheric planet, quickly locating suitable organisms belonging to Fonticulua Upupam. Luna takes quick samples as the Journey prepares to move on.
This particular species is found only on ice planets with argon-rich atmospheres. Broad hoop-like growths are grown to reflect weak light from the parent star onto the plant for photosynthesis.
We move on in search of another new, unseen organism, called Fumerola Carbosis. This type of life grows within fumaroles in places where the ambient temperature would be too low for normal survival.

Luna ventures out on this icy planet to locate samples of Fonticulua Fluctus. An entire field of the target specimen is located, making sample retrieval a breeze.
This particular species develops coiling 'gem-like' protrusions along its stalk, which turn towards sunlight for photosynthesis. This type of life can only live on planets with oxygen atmospheres.

Captain Kyle Lucas of AECU's Nomad team is given an opportunity to try out an extra exobiologist suit we have on hand. In spite of his hesitation and comments like "how the hell do you even use this thing?", he successfully samples Fonticulua Segmentatus completely.
This species of Fonticulua is only found in neon atmospheres, and appears like a frilled pyramid, and uses photosynthesis to generate the energy it needs.

Tori is the first EVA member to collect all three samples for Electricae Radialem.
Just like Electricae Pluma, Radialem uses electrochemical reactions to drive the thermal circulation process. Radialem in particular extends multiple bioluminescent branches that radiate outwards. This particular species may have an unknown link to the proximity of nebula to its parent planet.

The Journey arrives at a system with a White-Dwarf star. While still spectacular, pilots navigate around the star to avoid risking the ship.
An approach is made towards an icy planet, and we settle down within a region that should sustain Electricae Pluma. Its luminous properties make it easy to spot in flight, which saves our EVA teams travel time.
Electricae Pluma is exclusively found on ice planets, usually in proximity of a frozen lake. It is assumed that while the tips of the organism protrude through the ice, the bulk of it extends below subsurface melt, perhaps for several kilometres. Being superconductive in nature, they utilise thermal circulation to drive an electrochemical process.
This may explain why this genus is limited to planets with noble gases dominating the atmosphere. The 'tip' of the organism provides a way to connect with the atmosphere, creating a point of potential difference. Due to this, the organism appears bioluminescent.

We relocate to a new system in search of Concha Labiata. This particular specimen survives in carbon-dioxide atmospheres, and opens up to sprout vertical, spiky leaves, of which bright seeds rest within the leaves.
The TSV Journey remains on 45 C Bootis for only a few minutes, before we begin our departure to a new system - in order to discover a yet unseen type of life: Electricae Pluma.

After maintenance crews check out the TSV Journey and confirm it flight-ready, the crew departs to the Aulis system to locate Concha Biconcavis. While these lifeforms are within inhabited space and thus have already been catalogued by numerous organisations - the genetic data can still have useful variations that Mantis may take interest in.
Concha Biconcavis is an egg-like shape and bisects in two, just like other types of Concha, however from within its flesh-like interior, a thin, single 'branch' sprouts. Once fully matured, it grows circular pods which are used for gaseous exchange.

Research teams have a hard time convincing the EVA teams that "EGGR 431" is not a system name to make fun of.
While the teams search for Concha Aureolas, engineering teams alert the pilots that drive engagement systems are not working at full capacity. While this does not directly pose a threat to flight yet, engineering teams convince the Captain that a longer stay on this planet is required to ensure integrity of the thrusters.
Concha Aureolas is eventually discovered by exobiologist Luna. It bears many similarities to the Concha genus, as expected, but splits apart to create long stalks with loops along them.

TSV teams make the decision to travel to a system on the outskirts of the bubble in search of Clypeus Margaritus - to avoid extensive travel to further sites. Security teams mandate that EVA teams must be armed in inhabited space.
After several more check-ups, medical teams finally approve Luna's request to re-join the EVA team, and she ventures out to search for the target specimen.
She soon locates the Margaritus species and collects full genetic data. This species develops a curved shield in which three organisms can grow within. The shield resembles a smoothed pearl in texture, as well as in shape.

More life is located on this planet - but EVA teams take particular interest in the target specimen; Clypeus Speculumi.
This species grows a shield - like other types of Clypeus - to protect the organism within. Due to the sensitivity of the lifeform, they can only exist on planets a certain distance away from their parent star, as in some situations the shield may be inadequate for protection.

We relocate landing sites into harsher terrain, which is detected to contain other types of life, like Fungoida and Concha. While the aforementioned life has already been catalogued, Tori discovers Osseus Discus which is not yet in the TSV's data.
This particular species looks like a half-buried disc shape. Occasionally, these may resemble rocks from a distance. Utilising thermosynthesis to survive, geothermal heat is drawn from below the ground, as well as any ambient exterior heat in the environment, in order to produce energy for growth and survival.

The TSV Journey continues operation a little bit later than expected as crews run more thorough system checks to ensure avionics and other critical systems were not damaged by the anomalous incident.
Medical teams are still hesitant to approve Luna for further EVAs - so Tori is asked once again to handle exobiology operations. This planet is incredibly small, resulting in a "potato-like" appearance. The water atmosphere gives an amazing blue sky as the Journey settles in a nearby plain.
Aiden is asked to back up Tori in his SRV, to assist in locating life of interest to research teams. They split up, and Tori proceeds on-foot to survey the local area.
