//////////////// INFORMATION ////////////////

We arrive in Bishan and dock with Moran Lab, which effectively marks the end of our mission. Tori is asked to take a limited copy of the genetic data in order to determine its worth.

After verifying our data, we determine that our sample data is worth 25,555,700 CR at our Vista Genomics contact.
Our cartographic data also amounts to around 15,317,453 CR for 406 systems once uploaded to the Universal Cartographics network.

INCIDENTS:
1. We have an anomalous encounter for our first incident, which resulted in minor injuries of one of our EVA team members, Luna Hayes. The anomaly is still yet unexplained, and resulted in us losing communications temporarily as well. The mission proceeded without incident thereafter.
2. Our second incident involved an encounter with a Thargoid vessel after hyperdiction. The mission proceeded without incident thereafter.
3. Our third incident is related to a hijacking, where the TSV Journey was boarded by unknown hostiles. The attackers left prior to rescue by CSF operatives. The mission proceeded without incident thereafter, but was shortened for the safety of the crew.

SPECIES SAMPLED:
We sampled a huge number of different species. Here is a complete list of all genera and their respective species that we sampled in the Inner Orion Spur, not including coloration differences.

There are many more different types of life out there - these were only ones that were in the operating range of the TSV Journey. We hope our mission encouraged you to get out there and discover the diverse organic life that has laid undisturbed for millions of years.

Our thanks go out to our Commanders for helping return the TSV Journey back to our control safely after incident three. We now intend to return to the Solaris carrier and mothball the TSV Journey until it is needed again, with the crew returning to their own duties back aboard the carrier.

We finish off our survey by sampling Roseum Bioluminescent Anemone. Our next steps are to return to the bubble and deliver our data to Mantis teams, so we can conclude our mission.

Despite the incredible views and excitement the crew shared along our journey, many of us are relieved to turn to the bubble after the attack. We plot a route to the Bishan system, planning to rendezvous at the Moran Lab planetary port and verify our data prior to handing it over to Mantis.

Our detour is not fruitful, and we are unable to find any signs of Bark Mounds in the systems we investigate. We eventually make an exception and call the decision to move on. While bark mounds are relatively simple organisms according to other reports, their hardiness against severe radiation is of some scientific interest. We regrettably continue on to our last organism, Anemones.

Tori surveys two more types of brain trees, Ostrinum and Aureum. The high gravity and temperatures quickly exhaust our EVA teams, but they maintain their composure as they collect samples.

While Ostrinum almost looks the same as Lindigoticum, it differs in the slight purple hue its stalks have. Aureum, on the other hand, appears as a brilliant gold. We determine that there are no more types of life that are worth surveying here, and as such we move on.

For the safety of the crew, Mantis Analytics orders that we shorten our survey and scan only four additional lifeforms in the following categories; Gypseeum Brain Trees, Viride Brain Trees, Roseum Bioluminescent Anemones, and Bark Mounds.

We unfortunately omit to survey Sinous Tubers as rumoured locations are outside the operating range of the TSV Journey.

INVESTIGATION UPDATE 1 1 0

INVESTIGATION UPDATE 1 1 0
Hello Commanders,

If you are reading this, you have likely seen anomalous status update 111 and the partial data packet thereafter.
This investigation update replaces the corrupted status update 110 in order to provide context for the aforementioned items.

Internal Affairs - Hydra Team Locates TSV Journey

The TSV Journey, Mantis' flagship survey vessel, was plunged into a perilous situation today when an unidentified group hijacked the ship and threatened to destroy it. Thanks to the quick actions of Commanders and CSF teams alike, the ship has been located and subsequently rescued, albeit with no sign of the attackers.

"We were sent by CSF to locate the Journey. Thanks to the help of Commanders Phanna, Eeka and Mal, we acquired the start to the breadcrumb trail and were able to work our way from there," says Captain Griffith, the squad leader of special operations team 'Hydra', that was deployed in response to the incident.

"First, we located a damaged communication beacon left behind by the Journey. Had the crew not thought of ejecting this beacon, the chances of us finding the ship would plummet. Thankfully, they did, and we were able to decrypt it with the help of CMDR Mal. The beacon contains a log that recalls the events that transpired on the TSV Journey after it took off, which accidently resulted in them abandoning exobiologist Tori May on the surface of its destination planet."

"The crew were forced to lockdown and hide from the intruders, who reportedly had superior weaponry and suits. Rather than risking personnel, the security team locked themselves in the bridge with the pilots, and the rest of the crew in their respective compartments. The attackers laid explosive charges within the ship, setting the timers to one minute and eleven seconds, and threatened to blow the ship up if the Journey phoned home. What happened next is unclear, but according to the security chief, the attackers shut down the TSV Journey via the engine room and departed through the rear airlock. They suspect a ship arrived and picked up the group, but it was never seen."

"After rescuing Tori, who was near the emergency beacon, we arrived at the ship and made it onboard. The explosive charges were still around, but the timers were still all at one minute and eleven seconds. My team quickly disabled the charges and ensured the safety of the crew, but the attackers' motives and whereabouts are unknown. The ship is now underway and rebooting itself, but why this incident happened in the first place doesn't add up. We hope this doesn't happen again, and we hope Mantis will undertake a thorough investigation when the TSV Journey ends its survey."

The TSV Journey is expected to continue without incident, but Mantis has stated that its survey schedule has been heavily shortened for the safety of its personnel. No crew were injured and the ship remains undamaged.

Recovered Communication Archive - TSV Journey 01 - Owen Murray Chief Security 10

This is Owen Murray. I'm Chief of Security aboard the TSV Journey.

We have been boarded by an armed hostile force and our security systems have been overwhelmed. They've shut down the [expletive] OSIRIS network too.
I... don't even know who these people are. They have... uh... armoured suits - almost similar to ours. I think there's about 11 of them.

We managed to jump away from the Col 173 Sector KY-Q d5-47 system, where we think they boarded us, but effectively the ship has been 'split in half'.
We're in the bridge. The pilots, some of the EVA team and most of the security are in here with me, and we've locked down the ship. The others... I think they've been taken hostage by the boarders, or they locked themselves in habitation or research.

It's not helping, though. They're cutting through some of the doors. We've reinforced the bridge door but I don't know how long we can last.
They're not even responding to negotiation attempts, but they've made a few demands.
If we... if we give out our position, they say they will destroy the ship. We don't even know how they got onboard. There was never another ship, and if it was running cold, we would've seen it anyway!

Thankfully, the pilot had the foresight to eject the emergency beacon, which I've bounced this communication onto. With luck, they won't detect it, and someone will find it...
... I can see they've laid some charges in the cargo bay and access corridors. For some reason, they've set all the timers to 1:11.
They.... want us to come out of the bridge, but we're having a stand-off. I've told the pilot to look for another planet to land on, but... God.

What do these people want?! We just have research data onboard. Surely it's not that valuable to them that they would blow up the ship?
The gear they have is worth more than all our data combined. We have innocent people onboard!
Goddamnit. If you find this emergency beacon, I pray to God we're still alive, please. We need help.

This is Owen Murray, Chief of Security aboard the Journey. Help us.

We arrive at Kappa-1 Volantis, a system on the fringes of the Guardian bubble.

After some time, we locate Lividum Brain Trees on this airless planet. These organisms are thought to have an unexplained link with the extinct Guardian civilisation, as they are commonly encountered in systems that belonged to the old Guardian bubble. Brain trees, despite being quite a complex organism, are able to survive in incredibly hostile environments, as there is no atmosphere here, and temperatures can soar quickly above safe levels.

Lividum in particular appears to differ by its colouration, as the brain-like growths have a green/blue color to them.

We tread carefully in this system due to the state of war. Eventually, we land in a secluded, barren plain, giving our EVA teams the opportunity to sample Tussock Ventusa.

With tough lower stalks, but thin upper reeds, Tussock Ventusa is characterised by its small pale spores which appear like small discs within the plant themselves.

Survey teams plan to wrap it up today, allowing EVA teams to relax before the final stretch. With 74 organisms sampled, only 22 remain. Mission conclusion is expected within the week, where the TSV Journey will rendezvous with a Mantis team at a select planetary port.

We take caution as we approach this broken planet. The hazardous terrain and deep canyons here would usually discourage usage of SRVs, but we opt to have our survey teams utilise them to cover ground faster.

This proves useful as Tussock Serrati samples are found at varying distances from each-other.

Tussock Serrati sprouts serrated leaves - as evidenced by its name - around thick stalks. These produce seed pods that are used for reproduction. Seeds are typically scattered via wind dispersal, a common method for Tussock.

We arrive at this white dwarf system and take in a moody view as the star spins in the distance. The TSV Journey lands in an incredibly dense cluster of Tussock Capillum, so we have our EVA teams proceed on foot rather than risking an SRV in this harsh terrain.

Being the most unique looking Tussock species yet, this organism appears like a cluster of "thick, matted hair". The branches that sprout from the base carry pods containing round beans.

Luna makes good progress on this world, uncovering two lifeforms simultaneously.

Tussock Stigmasis appears as a clump of thin grass. Remarkably tough for its appearance, its tall stalks carry circular seed pods once mature.

Frutexa Collum is characterised by its spiky branches, which surround a thick column. The column is topped off by a dark crown, and covered in spores.
