FRC Historical Summary - 3303

{WORK IN PROGRESS, specific dates and actions will be added over time as we try and recover historical data...}

Before delving into the history of the greatest group of Federal CMDRs ever assembled, we recommend you begin by going back ALL the way to the beginning, to Earth, and how the Federation itself came to be. Obsidian Ant made a wonderful set of Epic History videos and you may watch the Federal edition here:

EPIC HISTORY OF THE FEDERATION Video by Obsidian Ant

Background of the Federal Republic Command

The Federal Republic Command (FRC) was set up as an initial recruitment tool to more easily coordinate the activities of the various private military contractors operating under the Federation's esteemed President Hudson. The President has found himself busy tending to the Federation and the constant escalating tensions with the Empire, the increasing threat of aliens, and other pressing matters of state. The FRC has ensured that Hudson systems remain protected and secured while the President handles these more pressing matters.

The FRC eventually grew to be a formidable force, utilizing vast repositories of knowledge to make decisions that allowed the leadership to not only properly direct their members but also to funnel hundreds, if not thousands, of Hudson CMDRs from outside their ranks to systems throughout the inhabited bubble. Unfortunately, many other Hudson CMDRs, lovingly termed Grinders, continue to waste billions of credits in supplies on Groombridge 1618 weekly. Current technology to communicate with all CMDRs pledged to a power seems to lag significantly behind technology of the 21st century (where Discord, Reddit, INARA, etc. were used to great effect) resulting in many CMDRs still not able to receive proper guidance and direction. This has become the main goal of the FRC, to bring as many followers of the President within the fold, to ensure their actions benefit the Federation, and ensure these actions are not detrimental to the President or the Federation.

3303

January

In what may become a tradition, the New Year again kicked off with an attack on Hudson, with heavy undermining by Grom and Imperials of a large number of our loss-making systems. This was also at a time when Hudson was attempting to expand back into Mislika, a control system previously lost in the middle of December 3302. The attack was caught early, and the Battle Cattle kicked into high gear once again, fortifying 47 systems and ensuring only loss-makers would be up for turmoil. Concantae, Othime, and Venetic all turmoiled, and as expected, with all loss-makers, the attack the following week ceased. The fortification strategy again worked beautifully, allowing Hudson to keep Venetic and Othime for strategic reasons, and lose Concantae (one of our worst systems) to regain over 41cc. The Turmoil meant that our battle for Mislika was unsuccessful.

The power play struggles was not the only fireworks to start off the New Year. Reports started to come in from the Pleiades region of CMDR hyperdictions by unknown, alien craft. Rumors quickly flowed about Thargoids; however, no confirmation could be made as to the identity of the unknown ships. They would pull CMDRs out of hyperspace, disable all systems, and then appear to scan the vessels, either for data collection or in the search for something. Shortly after, they would jump out, leaving behind an 'unknown wake' that could not be followed. An FRC CMDR, CMDR Hellrot, was the first to engage these vessels, showing that our weapons currently have no effect on the aliens’ vessels.

President Hudson immediately responded to the hyperdictions with a command to build more Farragut battle-cruisers and to expand the Federations presence in the Pleiades in a proactive defensive move in the event these alien craft represent a threat to humanity. The other powers all took a more cynical, even conspiracy theory approach, preferring to wait and see. The FRC put its support behind the defensive military buildup but also urged caution in assuming the aliens represent an inevitable threat and held out hope for a peaceful interaction in the future.

The month closed out with another loss-maker assault, with DP Camelopardalis falling into turmoil. Our combat pilots valiantly opposed Grom in his attempt to take control of Mislika and were successful; however, his expansion into 27 B1 Cygni succeeded. Multiple forays by our CMDR hunters into the system resulted in ZERO contact with Yuri's CMDRs; once again raising the prospect of a special, privately owned technology that makes it impossible to see their CMDRs as they attack other powers. When confronted, their leadership stated that yes, they like to operate privately as their CMDRs like to attack enemy powers and their hard work while relaxing and enjoying themselves without any interference from those they are trying to destroy. The FRC responded sternly, stating this was an affront to all brave, honorable, and hardworking CMDRs across the galaxy.

February

February opened with the loss of another loss-making system, as DP Camelopardalis left the loving embrace of President Hudson. This returned a small 2cc back to Hudson's economy. This was followed by two more weeks of Turmoil and losses of further loss-makers, Carpaka, and followed up by Detta. The economic drain of the system known as Kaushpoos was also slated for the chopping block, however, unexplained, and unwanted fortifications of multiple systems resulted in Kaushpoos remaining a drain on Hudson’s CC Economy. During this scrap period, the FRC was successful in making the most of the attacks by the Grom/Empire alliance and improving their underlying economy. When the enemy realized turmoil’s would not be a successful way to hurt the Federation, they resorted to utilizing Grom’s private group technology, insanely high CC, and almost unopposable expansion triggers. Week after week, Grom threw damaging weaponized expansions at Hudson, succeeding each time, and dragging the Hudson economy down.

The FRC was able to regroup and begin a series of snipes and opposing attacks on Grom’s expansions, finally defeating the majority of their weaponized expansions by the end of the month. While one would occasionally make it through, it was shown that the FRC numbers continued to swell and were beginning to regain their foothold and strength in the galaxy.

At this point, ZYADA turned their attention to Winters, launching a massive attack and putting multiple highly profitable systems at risk of loss. In an odd turn of events, the following week had the attack on Winters continue, but a sudden end of cycle shift put Hudson into turmoil and placed a low-profit system, Phanes, into turmoil. What FRC leadership didn't understand is that when the attack on Winters ceased, ZYADA was only 3cc from making Winters drop a very profitable system.

March

The FRC kicked off March with a Battle Cattle stampede, saving Phanes and pulling Hudson out of turmoil. Grom attacked Mislika again, and after another display of their private technology were able to successfully take the former Hudson system. Winters once again had to endure the Imperial attackers and found themselves in Turmoil; however, fended off the repeat attack to save all their control systems. This time the Federation felt that Patreus should be reminded what Turmoil felt like, with Contie placed on the chopping block.

The Federal Defense League published a news release that shocked the galaxy, announcing that they had taken control of Royo Dock in the Lemovi system. Most systems and PMF actions don't attract the attention of news services but Royo Dock was no ordinary case. The FDL had taken control of an Imperial Dockyard, with two Majestic Class ships in dock at the time.

March finished off on a quiet note, with no powers in turmoil after Patreus fortified and saved Contie.

April

As had become the norm, the Battle Cattle began the month staving off another attack, albeit minor, with little other action. This changed toward the middle of the month with Winters coming under attack with 2 systems in turmoil and ALD launching a weaponized expansion in Gitse. The now famous Battle for Gitse had begun. The FRC also watched as the traitor Yuri Grom fell to last place in the power standings, showing the significant difficulties he was having gaining traction in the galaxy. Winters remained under attack, as the FRC was able to successfully assist their frosty friends in repelling the Empires assault in Gitse. The galactic order was disturbed however, as a glitch in the matrix resulted in all failed expansions remaining in a state of expansion for the following week.

This glitch included the FRC expansion into Ither, which was unfortunately defeated. Granny Torval decided to launch a weaponized expansion, LHS 3531 into Hudson space, which would be just the first of such attempts with this system, for weeks to come, and easily defeated each time.

This was also the time when CMDR Salome (formerly Senator Kahina Loren of the Empire) announced that she had major, important, and galaxy altering news that she would attempt to release for all to hear. While she was considered a traitor by the Federation and the Empire, she was previously accused and charged with an assassination attempt on Admiral Patreus. While the Federation also considered her a criminal, the FRC made a decision that it would support her in her bid to reach her destination to release this information. Leadership believed that even if any of the information was against the Federation, that the President and the government could easily handle any fallout. FRC CMDRs were told of the leaderships decisions, but that they could choose their own path, and that the support for Salome was not an order.

Given the VERY large interest by the Empire in silencing her, and President Hudson’s nearly silent response, it was assumed that any information would be much more damaging to the Empire. A massive effort was enacted across the galaxy to escort her and her cohorts to their final destinations. While all her accomplices arrived alive, Salome succumbed to a surprise attack from a CMDR Besieger (aka Harry Potter) in which her and her ship was destroyed 2 systems from her destination. More information on the partial message received from her cohorts can be retrieved in other galactic archives.

May

As May began, the Imperial offensive to expand into Gitse continued again. This time, the Imperial slavers enlisted the help of Yuri Grom. EG Union and Patreus CMDRs UM'd Hudson sending him into turmoil and launching a Grom weaponized expansion in LTT 8181. This was assumed to be a distraction to pull Hudson resources from combat in support of Winters opposition to the Gitse expansion. 2 Hudson systems, 19 Phi-2 Ceti and Katuri were set to be lost. However, the enemy miscalculated their strategy and the Hudson and Winters forces. Halfway through the cycle, Hudson fortifiers had protected all their profitable systems and began a calculated fortification strategy to lose the 2 turmoil systems, and continue the turmoil in order to lose what were really large loss-making systems. In Gitse the battle waged on, leaving immeasurable debris in its wake. The FRC recognized the tactics being utilized by the Imperials, and as the cycle ended, Hudson had shed the 2 systems, recovering 99cc back to their economy and placed 3 more horrible loss-making systems on the turmoil block for the following week. LTT 8181 was won with moderate effort, defeating Groms weaponized expansion. The real story lay in Gitse, where the Federation out battled the Empire, pulling ahead by 1,500% in the end and decimating the Empires expansion hopes for that system. The first Battle of Gitse was won, but it would be just one in a series of battles to come.

Hudson continued their attempt to shed loss-making systems and with the Empire withholding its normal undermining levels, the FRC had to hire out the duties of undermining their own systems to some nefarious CMDRs. The FRC needed to be able to successfully plan, and execute, a very precise fortification and UM'ing operation, that at the end of the cycle would result in minimal to no turmoil, but all 3 systems lost. As the end of the cycle approached it appeared a success, however, a mini-snipe operation by the Empire struck at 2 other loss-makers. If these had turmoiled, they would have benefitted Grom; however, the Empire was not fully aware of the FRCs UM'ing and ended up putting Freng and Aornum in turmoil. While not positive systems and not ones that were part of the plan to scrap, the risk of losing them was considered an acceptable option. In the end, over a period of 2 weeks, Hudson had recovered 214cc of lost-income thanks to the planning and efforts of the FRC.

The following week showed the Federation under one of the largest attacks in recent history. With Freng and Aornum in Turmoil, the enemies of freedom attacked and UM'd 43, systems, the most UM'ing the FRC has witnessed Hudson experience. In return, the massive Battle Cattle fleet stampeded and flowed the fortifications to Hudson's systems, Fortifying 100% of systems, ALL 57 systems (a record as well)! As the UM'ing progressed throughout the week, our intelligence services tracked the enemies to 4 systems on that final day, and only located them out in the open in 1, however, they immediately fled, bringing in other CMDRs to engage our hunters. Yet, even with active searching, we could no longer locate the enemy as they continued and finished the UM'ing of those systems. In the end a successful open battle with the enemy underminers in a SINGLE one of those systems would have resulted in saving Freng, but unfortunately, due to what appeared to be the sharing of Grom’s private technology, they were able to complete the attack undisturbed. From the ashes of Freng arose a new federation rallying cry, REMEMBER FRENG!

June

The first week of June saw an impressive amount of action across the galaxy. Hudson was out of turmoil with a large CC balance. The FRC made a bid to prep a system for expansion for the first time in weeks, sending CMDRs to Burr to retrieve preparation materials. Winters and Delaine each had 4 expansions apiece, drawing the attention of much of the Empire which kept the heat off the FRC. This allowed for the successful prep of Burr and another large CC balance for the following week as well. Our combat pilots rejected Aisling Duvals push into AF Leporis and also forced Patreus to spend time and credits fortifying as a result of a small UMing run on his systems.

The expansion into Burr was a hard fought battle, resulting in hundreds of thousands of merits amongst both sides. PvP action was also heavy with both sides sending in 'merit-removal' squads, with the FRC wings winning multiple encounters, forcing enemy CMDRs out or back to the rebuy screen. In the end, as battle merit figures were calculated, the FRC fell short in their expansion attempt; however, this was due to a significant number of CMDRs that were part of Task Force Reaper being away on a secret operation.
As the Federal and Imperial CMDRs eyes were focused on Burr, Granny Torval appeared to have slipped on some spilled tea, sending 20 systems into Turmoil, 19 of those profitable. A massive snipe operation UM'd 33 systems, leading to a massive -4,812cc balance for Torval.

It was also at this time the entire future of the galaxy was placed in doubt. Palin had requested a mass collection of alien scan data to further study the unknown craft that were visible around the region and over the barnacles. The Federation confiscated the data in order to ensure that it would not present a danger if utilized for nefarious purposes by evil organizations. The retrieval was successful; however, contact with the Federal fleet on the mission was lost. CMDRs located the remains of the fleet, with an unknown ship departing the area with no signs of survivors. The analysis of the data and logs from the ships determined that the unknown craft were as previously suspected, Thargoids.

President Hudson re-iterated the Federations stance on the mobilization of the federal forces and the increase in the rate of construction of naval vessels and defensive outposts. The FRC supports and agrees with the President’s decision to take a defensive stance in preparation for what is assumed will be an offensive attack by the Thargoids. All Federation CMDRs should prepare their ships as much as possible for encounters against this superior technology. The FRC requests that Federation CMDRs not take any offensive action; however, we will support any Federation CMDR that will need to take defensive action.  While we hold out hope that it will be a peaceful encounter, our hope is fading after repeated Thargoid attacks on Federation convoys. We may not fire the first shot, but we will fire the last.

As June came to a close, UM'ing attacks on the Federation seemed to have ceased for the remainder of the month. All the focus was on Torval, in an attempt to help her  scrap lossmaking systems by piggy-backing on the massive turmoil. Hudson prepared Muncheim for expansion, but quickly failed in their attempt as it wasn't a high priority and was more a diversion from other Federation objectives. A second attempt was then made for Burr, with Hudson and FRC pilots flooding the system hard and fast from the start. The Empire claimed a change in priorities, stating they would let Burr fall to the Federation, but a last minute merit bomb of over 2,700% was dropped in opposition; however, this was still not enough to overcome the nearly 4,000% lead the FRC had built up in the system. Burr was finally under Hudson control. The following week, Muncheim was returned back as a control system of Hudson being lost months prior.

July

July started off with the return of Muncheim, however, further expansion was placed on hold as alleged 5c activity reared it's ugly head in LHS 2088, with thousands of merits halued in preparation of a system that would be just as horrible as Groombridge. The FRC was able to successfully vote for consolidation and avoid an expansion attempt. At the same time, Aisling pushed for expansion into Kalana. Initially, the FRC split it's combat resources in opposition of multiple expansions, but it was soon shown that blue-haired princess was serious in her push. Over the next few days, hundreds of thousands of merits were claimed in combat, PvP CMDRs laid waste and showed dozens upon dozens of Imperial CMDRs the rebuy insurance screens, but the flood of haulers just would not ease up. In the end, Aisling secured her expansion by a mere 7,000 merits. The cost however, was estimated to be an astronomical 7 to 8 BILLION credits spent on expansion merits by her CMDRs, and millions upon millions more in rebuy insurance payments.

Throughout the month, Winters fought off repeated attempts by ALD to take Puntin, successfully repelling ALD with the help of FRC CMDRs. As July came to a close, the battle for Puntin was again underway while Hudson fought their own repeat battles as well. Over the course of the month, Hudson prepared HR 2776 multiple times, and losing the expansion phase multiple times. As July rolled into August, all eyes were on those two systems. Would Winters once again beat back the slavers of ALD, and would Hudson finally secure control of HR 2776?

August

August began once again with a loss of Hudson's attempted expansion into HR 2776 and an immediate re-prep of the system to attempt it again. After their final victory in Puntin, it appears that ALD had set their sights on Tujil, with an expansion attempt into that system that fell to a dedicated onslaught from Federal CMDRs. As the battle for HR 2776 re-ignited, the Federation moved to oppose another ALD expansion attempt, this time in Belgitan.

In Galactic news, The scientists of the 3 major powers announced a historic joint project, called Aegis. The goal of Aegis was to study the Thargoid technology and data discovered to date. Shortly after Aegis was announced, the Alliance pushed forward with an independent call for Thargoid data to be delivered to an alliance faction in the Hudson control system of Kaushpoos. The FRC immediately censured the Alliance, accusing them of trying to undermine the greater scientific community for their own gain {GALNET ARTICLE} and, according to some conspiracy theorists, possibly hide Alliance interactions with the Thargoids.

The expansion and preparation attempts for HR 2776 would continue for the near future, as infiltrators would consistently interfere with the FRC's attempts to consolidate and avoid expansion attempts. Vile criminals were continuously attempting to push massive loss-making systems for Hudson expansion. At the end of the month, FRC forces were able to successfully repel Torval's expansion attempt into HIP 88178.

At month end, Galactic historians and researchers established a summary of the 'Thargoid Situation'. Until recently, the Thargoids were considered a childhood scary story, with most people having no education in the Thargoid wars of centuries ago. {Galnet Article}

September

September rolled in with another Galnet article, this time, with a opinion piece that the Imperial/Federation Cold War may be thawing. {Galnet Article}. While there has been no response from each powers respective leaders, the FRC did not believe that there was much truth to the theory, as Imperial factions and CMDRs continued to battle it out in proxy wars and terrorist actions against the Federation. Imperial news sources later showed that many in the Empire were leary of the Federation, but rumors continued to spread that the Federation and Imperials were considering withdrawals from the Pleiades {Galnet Article}. The FRC was closely watching the situation and would issue a response if necessary.

As the month progress, the FRC continued it's battles with the Empire, pushing another attempt to expand into HR 2776, while concurrently opposing the ALD expansion of Tujil... again. Neither campaign succeeded as seems to have become par for the course.

Again, the Galnet feeds were rife with news on the Federation, Imperials, and more recently, Thargoids.  The Federation announced that the Federal blockade of Engineer Palin was ending {Galnet Article} with the Farragut leaving it's station above Palin's base. This came shortly after Palin announced some sort of breakthrough in his research of Meta-alloys.

The following 2 weeks once again brought the FRC into conflict with ALD, facing additional opposition for Tujil, and with their cohorts in Winters facing a significant, but strategically planned turmoil, as well as facing a continuing, and significant, internal 5c threat.

Major breaking news then hit the Galnet mid-month, the Federation reported that several Federation convoys had come under fire in the Maia system, with circumstantial evidence pointing to Thargoids. Reports then indicated that Farragut and it's complement of support vessels had also  come under Thargoid attack, resulting in the loss of the Battlecruiser and it's support craft. {Galnet Article}. All FRC pilots were instructed to utilize extra caution in traversing the Pleiades and all other locations, and to upgrade their ships with top level modules and engineering modifications in preparation for what now appears to be an impending war with the Thargoids.

Many non-Federation CMDRs accused the Federation of war-mongering and 'firing first' to provoke the Thargoids. The FRC and others vehemently denied these accusations and Aegis and the Federation both released their analysis of the wreckage to show that the Thargoids were not provoked into the attack {Galnet Article}
