While Petra does not offer a large orbital station, it has a selection of outposts and planetary ports that make it an attractive system in the region. Taking Petra was an important part of our wider expansion plans in the Regira sphere and beyond and required a series of elections with a patronage heavily involved in the region's affairs.
Petra talks leaked
Hog
Details have been leaked of closed door talks taking place between Petra Empire Pact, the Noblemen of Pellang and the Praetorian Curiate Assembly regarding the future of the Petra system. With all eyes in the sector focused on the conflict in CD-52 9732, it appears that the three parties have been quietly maneuvering to consolidate assets in Petra and present a united front under the PCA banner. The leaked documents layout how the Noblemen, who have minority interests in many of Petra’s facilities and own Golden Lagoon Retreat, plan to allow the PCA to acquire these assets in return for concessions from Duke Rowe’s PCA Court. This will further strengthen ties between the PCA and Petra Empire Pact, who have already acknowledged a desire for a stronger alliance.
The talks are indicator of just how weak Noblemen’s Lady Alya Annisa’s independence movement is with her people. With her court already having ceded system wide control to the PCA in Pellang and Chagraff Mines being the only independently governed facility left in the Noblemen’s portfolio, it could well be that her constituents see no choice but to seek shelter with the Petra Empire Pact under the greater PCA umbrella.
PEP/PCA in Salpeter talks
Hog
Insider sources have revealed that the Praetorian Curiate Assembly and the Petra Empire Pact are once again negotiating the future of Petra. According to our information these talks are at an “advanced stage” and would involve the transfer of assets, including the systems extraction platform Salpeter Prospect, to PCA ownership and have the PCA assume governance and security responsibilities for the region.
Whilst PEP has been public with their desire for a closer relationship with Duke Rowe’s PCA, our sources indicate some patrons are keeping a close eye on developments in HIP 101846 where the PCA are facing much more vociferous opposition to their agenda. What if any effect this has on the outcome of the Petra talks remains to be seen.
PEP joins PCA
Hog
Praetorian Curiate Assembly representatives today announced that the Petra Empire Pact will be formally joining Duke Rowe’s Court. The move is accompanied by the PCA assuming control of Salpeter Port in Petra and thereby taking responsibility for security in the region. PCA’s Baronetess Journee Taylor made a brief statement,
“We are happy to welcome our friends of the Petra Empire Pact into our Assembly and we look forward to a long an profitable relationship which will improve the lives of all loyal Imperial citizens in Petra and beyond.”
PEP still maintain ownership rights to Oshima Hangar and Bond Station, Petra’s other two orbital facilities, however it is expected that the PCA will assume control of these installations in the coming days and weeks as PEP’s patrons become more comfortable with their new role in the PCA hierarchy.
Petra talks proceed
Hog
The Praetorian Curiate Assembly and the Petra Empire Pact are once again round the negotiating table discussing the Petra system. Things have been quiet in Petra since the PCA took control of Salpeter Port and therefore overall governance of the system. It appears that with balance sheets on the up and PEP Patrons growing acclimatised to being part of Duke Rowe’s larger Assembly, PCA feels the time is ripe to push for control of one of PEP’s remaining orbital assets. Both Oshima Hangar and Bond Station remain under PEP control, however PEP also maintain a variety of planetside facilities which could be on the table.
Whilst PEP’s Lady Alya Annisa remains publicly opposed to PEP facilities falling entirely under PCA control, this opposition feels more like mere rhetoric than anything that could jeopardise PCA ambitions in Petra. The profits and security offered by the PCA behemoth make for convincing arguments against Lady Annisa’s more isolationist standpoint.
With Oshima under PCA control, Rowe and Bishop seek Bond
Miso
Progress in the merger between Petra Empire Pact and the Praetorian Curiate Assembly moves forward this week, as transfer talks for Bond Station are reportedly underway. Salpeter Prospect and Oshima Hangar have already been legally placed under PCA control, months after Dyr Terminal in CD-52 9732 was purchased by the Assembly in an attempt to accelerate the terraformation operations underway in the system.
Isolationist Lady Annisa appears to have been thoroughly sidelined by a Pact that has proven eager to participate in a joined Imperial government for the region. While a premature end to the PCA-PEP merger is unlikely, PEP will retain control of Maybury Refinery and Aaronson Installation at least after this week.
