A. 227th Deep Space Regiment Ethos
OUR ETHOSWe encourage a Squadron First mindset- meaning that if you are in game, try to play and interact with members of the squadron. This is after all, your in-game family in a way and the only way to get to know each other is to play together. Cliches or exclusion of fellow Squadron members will not be acceptable.
We expect Commanders to conduct operational tasks for 227th Deep Space Regiment in OPEN PLAY and if are on your own, it is highly recommended/encouraged to do the same. If you are not actively on 227th Deep Space Regiment operations, such as Training of new members or in an under-powered ship traveling to/thru known Ganking hotspots (engineer systems, Shinrarta Dezhra etc.), then the Admiral of Fleet’s Private Group is acceptable; Solo play is highly discouraged (except when logging in and out while mat farming) as it gives the wrong impression of us as a Squadron.
Be respectful to those you meet in the Galaxy, we set the example for others to follow. Upon acceptance into the 227th Deep Space Regiment, you become a representative of the Squadron. Your actions and deeds reflect upon us all.
Help your fellow Commanders. Don't be afraid to ask for help.
Never fly without a re-buy. Or two. As we help each other earn, a re-buy is not an issue.
No Religion or Real-Life Politics to be brought up in game chat to avoid any misunderstandings and disputes- if you do so, it is at your own risk. In game politics are open for discussion and highly encouraged.
No racial or discriminatory actions or words of any kind will be condoned either in chat, messages, discord or otherwise towards a member of the Squadron/ED Community and as it relates to the game.
NO PLAYER SLAVING! Any member caught or found Player Slaving (with proof of course) will be removed from the Squadron, reported to Frontier and to Microsoft/XBOX.
NO Ganking/Griefing. The 227th is not only looking to build a good reputation within the ED Community, but also amongst each other and does not grief innocent members of the Pilots Federation. Documented actions of such reported to the Squadron Leadership will be dealt with appropriately.
Do not fire on other pilots, unless first fired upon unless an imminent threat is known and/or the order is given by the Admiral of Fleet/Wing Commander.
Don't fight or kill each other unless it's pre-arranged or consensual PvP, and always ask other pilots first. Use text communication and be specific about your agreed expectations, (that way you can screenshot for proof in event of a dispute). The ONLY exception to this is anti-ganking, but you better be sure that it is justified.
PvP Ethos
- Keep crimes off.
- Premium Ammo is banned. It's widely considered poor form and impossible to tell if others are running it. Synthesis during a fight is allowed as long as it's without damage bonuses.
- Healies: Never use heal beams. They’re overpowered, ignore pips, and break basic PvP mechanics.
- Ghosting: Don’t return to a wing fight once you’ve left (repairing/rebooting/rebuying and then returning) unless the enemy wing has done this already. Rebooting your ship during a fight is fine if you haven't left the instance.
- Ship-Launched Fighters: Don't use SLFs, they are bugged and provoke lag.
- Combat Logging (Clogging). We don't shy away from finishing a fight, for better or worse. Clogging on other Commanders is forbidden (& a violation of FDev ToS). If you get a connection error, or blue screen, screenshot and post it in the Discord Channel specifically for Combat or to one of the Commanding Officers to prove your claim.
As a reminder: All Play is to be in open unless otherwise stated.
