This mission was set by the allied/supported squadron: Cobalt

Ace Combat Pilots are asked to help clear out the pockets of concentrated Pirate Activity in the Cigui system. The last known location of this activity, and the current threat level, will be provided via System Navigation HUD.

Cobalt Squadron is currently assigned to logistic changes due to the policy shifts in the wake of the Federal Inauguration, but their scouting and investigations have provided some further details. The pirate forces are not organized in the usual sense, but they are numerous and relatively well equipped. While the majority are being classified as members of the Cigui Gang, you may be able to pick off some of the ones who do not share this affiliation, first.

Participants are asked to consider the presence of Escape Pods at these locations to be very likely. Retrievers should see the mission boards in Cigui and Orom for rescue efforts in the case of kidnappings. Further details and context are available.

Mission details
This period of Civil Unrest follows a food shortage brought about by a pathogen introduced into the systems of our Demeter-class Cropper ship at some point in mid-late October. After the unpopular decision to restrict the formation of new trade infrastructure to our Astera Farms in Hakkaia during this shortage, the populace has been stirred into unrest.

While there are many complicating factors contributing to this upheaval, many of the perceptions of our citizens are clearly justified, but those who have affiliated themselves with the Anarchists and pirates during this period cannot be allowed to escape punishment. Our expectation is that the overall numbers of these bad actors are actually quite low, and that any effort from skilled enough pilots will reduce their threat considerably, so we do not expect this situation to last long.

Also, according to our latest intel, these Pirates are not particularly interested in harming citizens directly, despite putting them at extreme risk by destroying their ships. Search and Rescue operators may be able to move into these areas to retrieve Escape Pods without meaningful threat of attack, but we cannot guarantee such safety. We advise powerful shields, a larger than usual ship with an otherwise empty cargo hold, and most of all, caution, when undertaking these actions. Fortunately, at least one report has indicated that even when scanned with retrieved Escape Pods on board, the operative was simply told to leave the area, by the outlaw.

If this trend continues, this aspect can be left to Shara and Cobalt Squadrons, and this may allow us to regain order more easily in the system.
