About Pilots Trade Network Squadron

Welcome to the Pilots Trade Network’s (PTN) official squadron page

Fantastic! You have found our page and could be at the start of what we hope will be a new chapter in your Commander’s story in Elite Dangerous.

We are a large group of Commanders that really enjoy hanging out together both in and out of the game. We might be NICE (a little in-squad joke, sorry) but we are a friendly, fun and above all a welcoming place.

As a squadron we are dedicated to helping Commanders to make credits for their first fleet carrier. Whether you are a Federation, Imperial, Alliance or Independent Pilot... if you like trading, credits, making lucrative 'business associates' to make more credits, then this is the place for you.

Our secret objective though is that once you have bought your carrier, you find that you have really enjoyed your time with us so much that you decide to stay longer (but like we said… that’s a secret!)

Where do I start?

As you would expect for a trade network, most Commanders start off trading with us. But not any old trading, we know some of the best trade stations in the bubble and we are able to position our massive fleet of PTN carriers just outside them. We trade in bulk and work with a network of haulers (one could be you!) to move goods between stations and our carriers.

We offer our haulers at least 10k per ton profit, which means you can pay for that new shiny Lakon Type 6 in 2 to 3 runs! You can join one of our squadrons (PTNS or PBNS) to do this or stay as an independent or a member of another squadron, it is up to you.

Our haulers use these profits to buy bigger ships, working up to that beautiful work horse the T9 (ok, ok, or other any large ship of your choice). By this point you will be generating at least 7.5m credits per 750 ton per run. So, grab that Lakon, put on your best tunes, find the nearest advertised PTN carrier to you on our Discord and get space trucking!

That sounds great, but at that rate my carrier is still 700 round trips away….

This is just the beginning of you journey! Once you have got some capital behind you, you may be ready to try Wing Mining Missions. It is a little more complicated than the straight trading, but we have detailed guides to follow, carriers full of the required metals so you don’t have to mine (unless you want to) and a place for Commanders to meet and share their missions. Four Commanders sharing a full stack of 20 missions each can generate 4 billion credits per Commander, proving teamwork really does pay!

PTN… Aren’t you the group that organises the booze cruise?

Yes, it is a hugely popular, vastly profitable adventure! The system HIP 58832 is the rooftop of the galaxy. There is no other system which is "higher". Although, which way is up in space?

In this system there is an observatory operated by Rackham Capital Investments. Next to this there is the lovely outpost Rackham's Peak with one of the best views in the galaxy. The corporate members and attendants enjoy a good party or public holiday for approximately 2 days around 10 to 12 times as year and, well, let’s just say they enjoy their booze.

And we deliver to them what they want in massive quantity! PTN Carriers as well as PTN affiliates/members haul wine from the bubble up to Rackham's Peak for the party. This is 5000 Ly away from the bubble and it takes approximately 6 or so hours to get there, and this can only by Fleet Carrier. Have a look outside on the way, you come quickly to the point where the galaxy is on one side and nothing on the other side. It sure is a sight to behold!

So why do you do this? Apart from the amazing views?

Out of the 3 main beverages they prefer, wine is the most profitable. On a normal day they offer 33k credits per ton, but on a public holiday the price goes up to more than 270k credits per unit! So, 15,000 units of wine on a carrier equates to roughly 4 billion credits!

But I don’t have a Fleet Carrier yet?

You travel up on one of our fleet carriers, with departure times advertised in our Discord. Due to the fact Rackham’s Peak is accessible by Medium/Small ships only, we would strongly recommend a Python for this trade mission. Flying brave with no shield means you can cram 288 units of cargo into it, whilst still having flight assists if you so choose. That's over 77 million profit per single wine trade run! For about 12 Pythons full of wine, you go from Penniless to Elite Trader. Just be sure to race to load up as much wine as you possibly can, there will be plenty of other CMDRs after these juicy profits!

If you are here because you have a fleet carrier already but aren’t a member of the PTN, we run a 24-hour volunteer-staffed traffic control system to ensure any carrier can enter or leave HIP 58832, PTN or otherwise. This is a lot of hard work and we're super grateful to our volunteers for their time and efforts. We genuinely want everyone to be able to experience the public holiday at the Roof of the Galaxy and try very hard to make that happen, PTN or otherwise. If you're having difficulty getting in or out of the Peak, please feel free to visit us on our Discord for help or information, or to use traffic control to get your carrier through.

Sounds great, you said something about you all hang out together…

We really enjoy hanging out together and for Elite we have channels dedicated to activities such as exploration, bug squashing, mining and helping each other find those G3 suits and gear. We also have channels for other games and the Pilots Lounge where we talk about all kinds of things (within the family guidelines). There are community events, story writing competitions, tours, puzzles and even bounty hunts to catch those NICE Commanders we mentioned earlier.

Our BGS minor Faction

In August 3307 the PTN minor faction was incorporated in Quaaybuwan, a system way out on the edge of the bubble. The Corporation quickly took control of the system, including its pristine mineral resources and the extraction settlements and stations needed to exploit them. Using this wealth, the faction is quickly expanding across nearby systems. However, being out on the edge of human space means the faction is dealing with cruel dictators, hard autocrats, criminal gangs and the most bizarre cults and religious dogmas that humanity can come up with. It is tough work to bring good Corporate Governance to these lawless parts of human space and so it requires hard people to do hard things. Therefore, the faction relies on independent Pilot Federation members (us!) to help deliver these expansion operations, as well as to bring the fire and the sword when required.

If you would like to get involved in the BGS please come talk to us.

If you are a member of another faction and wish to open a dialogue with our leadership, please speak to us in our Pilot’s Lounge and we will be happy to connect you.

So where can I find out more?

Come meet us at our Discord, the link is at the top of this page.
Also have a listen to Algorab AM, where our own Admiral Law is interviewed by Switch to discuss how a trade empire sprung up out of the blue. Here is the Spotify Link but you can find it on most podcast sites….

o7 Commanders, we look forward to meeting you.
