Anyone know what the post-nerf requirements are now for Exobiology Elite ranks?

Good luck!
Thanks, looks like the Epic installation of the game was corrupted. Could have gone corrupted due a few hard boots I had to do when the game crashed 'normally'. Attempting increasingly harsh solutions and uninstalling Epic launcher was the next step. They should have a record of my games somewhere in the net, yes/no? Going on to format the drive. Hopefully it become usable again, wouldn't wish I have to go to the store to get a new one. This is probably not a common problem, I'm living in an area with an unstable net connection. Hopefully we'll get a land line to the house some time next year.

Avoid hard boots like the plague. If a game locks up and becomes unresponsive, first press Ctrl-Shift-Esc to bring up the task manager and kill the game. If that doesn't work, press Ctrl-Alt-Del and log out or restart from there. If that doesn't work either, press Win-Ctrl-Shift-B to restart your graphics driver.
Only if all these three things fail, it's time to consider a hard boot.

Sound advice that can be repeated. Even one I didn't know of. Ssd:s are likely more susceptible to damage from hard boots than the hdd:s.

Not sure if that's the case.
Hard boots don't physically damage any drives, but they can easily cause file system corruption, especially if the drive is being accessed while the hard boot is initiated. So the timing may be more of a factor than the type of drive. NTFS is a journaling file system, so it can be repaired quickly, but "repair" in this case just means there won't be any sectors on the disk in an undefined state. Contents of files that were just being written to will still be corrupt, e.g. the file may exist but its size might be zero.
If the operating system does not respond to any of the above keyboard shortcuts, it is likely in a state where file system ops have stopped as well, so a hard boot is relatively safe at that point. The Ctrl-Alt-Del shortcut in particular cannot be intercepted by an application; Windows will always respond to it unless it's completely frozen. But these complete OS-level lock-ups are extremely rare and usually caused by defective hardware or drivers, not by buggy games or other apps.

It snowed lightly the whole day here, and it would be about time to go into hibernation, in Elite Dangerous there are some colors and not just Black, grey and White like outside...
(added: except it was not clean. still Windows notices something in there that must be blocked, rendering the ssd inoperable by conventional means. Maybe it is indeed a trip to the shop to get the cheapest small ssd for only ED to use. That way if I have to interrupt it for whatever reason only it will get destroyed. Thankfully my system disk is so small ED won't fit in there.
As I am my own Santa I might put on a wishlist three ssd:s of specific sizes for separate games...)
hopefully the Frontier deleting the progress on war isn't too much breaking the immersion. This mess with launcher/ssd/game/net connection sure is.

Just tried to run the latest 4.0 update and the picture is too big to fit on my screen. trying to alter graphics settings, that's too big and the 'SAVE' button is offscreen so I can't see it

Make sure the "Resolution" settings match on both the Monitor and in Game settings. That's usually the predominant cause of that effect. The "Scale setting" on your monitor can affect that as well.
Also a full reboot helps as well.

Delete the folder "Graphics" in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options before launching the game.

Expecting a snow storm starting in ~6 hours so a couple of those may get downloaded before the first break on net...
(no such luck, the installer aborted about the same time. trying to erase the data on disk again aborted as well. next step might be to go to the command prompt and run some commands manually. i find it hard to believe that there would not be a command to erase all but the identification data of the drive that malfunctions like this. or that there would be a program that can overwrite the i/o sys of the drive that has data being erased. Fastest way to fix this might indeed be buying a new drive, but i find it also hard to believe an ssd would totally break after one year of use.

there are many programms for total control of your ssd, check Ultimate Boot CD for some helpfull programms. u have to burn the downloaded iso file to a cd, or use a programm like rufus to create a bootable usb stick.

The flying dutchmanIf someone have efficient method to gather Chemical inventory and Weapon inventory. Only 1 of them has been found after at least 500 data has been downloaded. I try to download these data from specific facilities that described in this website, but still too slow. Very appreciate for help!
You're better off looking out for these as part of mission rewards (the on-foot ones - filter mission board by reward = material). This applies to a lot of other data mats fwiw. Trying to obtain them 'in the field' can be a frustrating experience due to their drop rates.

Could try FC bartenders to cut the collection of parts down faster, then trade at the Starport bars.
Need to be quite speedy with a recent market update to the carrier bar you want to visit.
