OtohaShock cannons, I've read or watched up on them what i can. PVP viable at all? How bad is the thermal on PVP rigged ships? Can you synth premiums? That last one i couldn't find an answer to at all, I'm guessing yes but still

Worth it. Just made a Clipper go boom at 91% and Cutter at 82%, in one battle. Cause of death was the same for both cases: overdose of plasma in power plant. In case of Clipper it was even a first shot on hull, after its shields went down.
So I've remembered this talk. Maybe this can encourage you, because first days trying Plasma can be some aaaaargh... :p

SakashiroChallenges are welcome. Besides, "Plasmamba" has a nice ring to it.
As a Plaz-de-Lance advocate (single huge gim-beam, all rest fix plasmas) I have found nothing else to quite live up to the killing power yet.
I tried it on the mamba but the boost-turn and the hardpoint convergence sucked in comparison, so went with frags on the mamba until I sold it.
But they're pretty close ships and once you're used to one, I guess you get the feel for that flying style.
The only thing I find with the both FDL and mamba that you don't tend to do is I'm always switching pips. When I pass the enemy I up weap and eng, when I see them swing round to attack, I put pips to shield. Always track which bank is lower and make sure there is at least a pip or two in there. Try to never let one go dry. There again, I think the FDL is maybe more fussy than the mamba?
And yeah, per Meowers on big ships. Always sub-target. I tend to go FSD as that stops them running and is usually easier to blow but PP will destroy the entire ship if you can take it with your plasmas.

Sure. It's ABC. Usually it's powerplant, with some exceptions when I go for drive. Never had escaping issues though, NPCs turn tail too late to actually jump in one piece, or, more likely, explode prior to it due to power plant breakdown. Powerplant kills is a constant source of, to say, up to 1/3 of my combat bonds. With 1/3 being small ships like Eagles and Vipers where subtargeting is... an issue. But they have low hull durability anyway, so shoot anywhere and watch them pop.
If not plasma, then gimballed MCs will do the work.

I got interdicted by surprise a couple of days ago - at the time I had 3 3C fixed beam lasers and 2 overcharged MCs. The MCs were useless, I believe: the interdicter was flying a Vulture with 2 advanced plasmas, with dispersal field and phasing sequence. I kept on losing lock, so the fixed beams helped overcome that.
The problem is that I cannot get decent accuracy with a HOTAS, especially with long range fixed weapons. The trade off here is to accept gimballed lasers, and when chaff or target lock gets broken, get in close and let rip with plasmas.
So far it seems to be a decent combination. I’m also getting used to the fact that I cannot continuously fire, and need to be judicious about my shots, which lets me concentrate on positioning and evasion.

I think Episparh refers to torpedoes being the only ordinance not available for synth? Cannons, Multi-cannons and Frags are listed in the link he supplied and can be restocked up to premium level.

Do not use Assit on
The HOTAS curves are at the center of 0.5 or less, then the movement when aiming will be smoother.
If HOTAS does not have such software, then you will have to develop motor skills in your head.

You have a point, thanks. I don’t currently have any curves set up for my joysticks. I’ve been putting off configuring vJoy, but I’ll bite the bullet today.

Instead of thermal vent you could install themal conduit and heatsinks
Befote engagement you are turning silent running and waching your enemy burns with you. If you get too hot (400-500%) you are firing a heatsink or turning a silent run off and stopping firing for a second.
