Haha, I was keeping note of your location... I would be bored in the first week... But then this was the time I needed to go to Semotus Beacon and get back to the bubble. Your best option back is Sag A* and hope for FC departuring soon to bubble or Colonia (you can use suicidewinder express from Colonia)

Effectively limiting your DPS output. And when punching through their shields, you have to do as much as you can, or they will recharge again, again and again. But with those beams you then to overheat or drain the capacitor before leaving a significal dent. Even in 1-vs-1 situation with you having absolute advantage in maneuverability, keeping yourself from being hit (or hit too much), you will lose a share of time dealing with "shields + all SCB reserve" rather than with "just shields". Hull is a lesser problem, because neither NPCs, nor other players cannot repair it in-combat, and targeting sub-modules, you can cripple their ships and even cause powerplant explosions.

Meowers, repair limpet controller wants to talk with you.

Hull repair during combat is viable tactic in PvE and especially in AX fights.

NPCs do not use it. Not sure if a player will find it useful in PvP encounters.

AFAIK, you cannot synth only torpedoes.




Am i missing something? It lists shock cannon munitions..?



I think Episparh refers to torpedoes being the only ordinance not available for synth? Cannons, Multi-cannons and Frags are listed in the link he supplied and can be restocked up to premium level.


Now that you say this i see it, after clearly missing that at first. I found then on the list, along with all the anti-xeno stuff i have barely touched i didn't know was there before either.

I'm being pulled into more pvp than i expected since I've been back. And while my old setups don't seem to be too lacking against today's ships, i was wondering if any more recently added weapons might need to get thrown in the mix. Shock cannons sounded good. Not sure on their usability though

Yep, think that’s part of yr problem. Good strategy against normal shields / small craft, but as Meowers says, against decent shields, you need to give it more punch. Heat shouldn’t be too much of a problem for short periods of time keeping bank mid charge. It will make a huge difference to yr time on target.

I am not a PvP guy but since no one replied to you I will point two things.
1. Use of premium ammo in a PvP fight is usuy considered as lame. This of course is some PvP code of conduct and it contradicts the ganking doctrine that you should use everything to get advantage. But then what do I know. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

2. Shock cannons are good DPS kinetic weapon but it comes with increased thermal load and lack of flexibility, mainly because they cannot be engineered. And since the current meta is shield/bank tanks with preference to alfa strikes weapons I do not think shock cannons are viable.

Contrary to conventional wisdom, drained WEP distributors are not a bad thing. If you can fire non-stop without ever draining your distributor, you're not realizing the full damage potential of your ship. Sustained DPS is a nonsensical metric. What I'm looking for is a weapon configuration that lets me inflict the highest amount of damage in the shortest possible time. In other words, the faster my distributor charge gets drained and transformed into damage output, the better.

The rest is a matter of weapon efficiency, i.e. DPS divided by distributor draw, multiplied by percentage of shots hitting the target.

I've tried to find that "golden mean" between Efficient MCs + Plasma and Overcharged MCs + Plasma builds. First option allows me to fire MCs non-stop and Plasma on it's recharge rate with 2 pips at wep, second option does more damage, but way too energy-hungry, so I have to go 4 pips wep while still forced to stop firing from time to time, but at this kind of power distribution I'm a sitting duck. So currently I'm sticking to Efficient: it allows to chase fast opponents with 1.5 or even 1 pip in wep, because plasma firing at them is more preciously timed than constant.

But I still have both sets of MCs just in case.

p.s. Dammit. Just got that idea about "why the hell I haven't tried 2 Eff + 2 OvC?".

I'm aware of the attitude around premiums. The pvp I've been doing has not been friendly. The new players I've taken under my wing, many don't fancy hiding in solo and have been being ganked. I don't care if Harmless gankers don't like premiums, they are still tasting these 30% boosted plasmas.
For friendly engagements I'd just use regular ammo.

So essentially nobody is using them, or those engineered seekers (packhounds still reign supreme i imagine) and i don't need to build for or against them. Fair enough

Every additional pip to WEP has to be taken away from SYS or ENG, making me more vulnerable and less maneuverable. I don't see how that's going to help me when multiple opponents are chasing and firing at me. Four pips to WEP in a wing fight is a desperation move, it's the Hail Mary approach to combat. I don't need a rebuy to see when a fight is lost.

What is currently some kind of useful is torpedoes with reverberating cascade ... Limited ammo, all ships can out run them.. But when properly used this can make even the hyper engineered prismatic bank cutter to flee in terror especially if HRP/MRP days were skipped .

So the meta hasn't really changed at all. Sad, i was hoping some of those tech broker modules had adjusted it
