Hannibal0216anyone know how to embed photos in your logbooks? All I get is the default 'error.jpg' icon (little picture frame).
use imgur to upload images and wrap them in tags:

Edit: code tag broken? I can't remove the space in the closing tag without it firing the tag...

I use tinypic (free image hosting service) - upload your pic there, then just click the "Insert picture" icon on your log book and paste the link to your image.

BenjethIs there a way to more or less accurately predict if a system will have a RES or not? Friend of mine just started the game a couple days ago, but apparently it's finally starting people at other places than LHS 3447. The downside to that is he's off somewhere I've never heard of, and in a Sidewinder with teeny jump range. I've taken him to a few systems, thinking for sure there'd be a RES (asteroid belt or ringed planet) but nope. Took him into a conflict zone where he earned enough to upgrade his ship but got destroyed too quickly to escape and lost all those bounties. LOL
Just trying to help him earn enough to get into his first new ship quickly...
This sort of gave me an idea - is there a wing or group for helping new players? I wouldn't mind occasionally winging up with a newbie and doing some bounty hunting (since that's what i do) or others could show em trading, etc. The learning curve is pretty steep for new people and I would definitely get some lulz out of it.
I guess if new players are spawning in new systems now it would be harder to find them, plus they're likely not familiar with the online communities yet. Thoughts?

WILD BILL CODYI would like to report multiple BUGS in this game. I know Frontier must be aware of these problems, as I can not believe that these things are happening only to me.
1. Missions to nonexistent stations and the gall to fine me for not completing the impossible mission to nowhere. Stations are not even listed on the map.
2. Missions to hold data and meet with someone. What a waste of time! Over and over and over, but will not update my panel and can not complete the mission. At least I wasn't fined for this impossible mission.
The game cheats unlike previous versions, but I can deal with that, but the lies just cause me to wonder if I am playing the wrong game. Just got Horizons and I am so disappointed in game play. Should be called the game of INTERDICTION! 17 interdiction's in a row 5, one after the other, two at a time...give me a break. One security guard kept pulling me over and fining me...that was it...now I have a bounty on my head for a few days, but he won't be pulling me over again.
Please fix your game Frontier...I certainly paid for a better experience than this.
#1 Ok, so i think for this, you "need" to equip your ship w -- is it? -- the Detailed Surface Scanner, so your ship can FIND the surface stations, in case THAT's where you need to be going... Otherwise you "won't see/find" the station
#2 I only read yesterday that these missions which give a "time window" to be in a certain system... if you go there EARLY, the contact will NOT "arrive" while you are there... so you have to [jump out (not SuperCruise) and] jump into the designated system ONLY "within" the time window, and ... I think ... you look for the contact at an USS (Unidentified Signal Source) then drop out of SC.
Good luck.

James Hussar . . . But, you do realize that the game is adaptive, right? The more valuable cargo, or cargo you're supposed to hold on to you carry, the more attention you draw and the more you will get interdicted.
I've seen some mission glitches, like NPCs show up as flagged as "mission target" for missions I've failed due to timeout or abandoned. But I haven't had any mission not complete - at least not complete after a short delay.
That said, you, like everyone else, paid for what the game is - not what we wish it were. Frontier is good people working hard to make what is into what we would like, but there it is, it's a work in progress. Have patience and moderate your expectations, or if it's really that intolerable, I hope you find what you're looking for in another game.
Actually, James, if I might contest that point --
I agree the game IS adaptive - and that's most certainly a Good point.
Where I disagree is "the more valuable cargo ... you carry, the more attention you draw . . ."
If this is indeed the case, I would suggest the game IS "cheating".
How?
Well, why should you suddenly have an increase in Interdictions JUST BECAUSE you've got more valuable cargo?
That is, UNTIL YOU ARE SCANNED, then these opponents "shouldn't know" what you're carrying -- and we take the assumption that the game has not implemented "NPCs role-playing SPIES" in the docks to "watch" and note what cargo you take on-board..
See, I'd rather believe that the Interdictions really are kinda RNG / luck o the draw (and also depending how much of your ship's butt you leave in the nose of any other craft your radar/sensors SHOW YOU is/are on your tail!) cuz even though the NPCs comments always seem to be "you've been hard to find, I have you now" or "looks like you've got some tasty stuff and I want it" sorta thing, they - technically - "shouldn't know" what you have UNLESS and UNTIL they attempt to SCAN you, and are successful.
So, WILD BILL CODY:
Troa Barton has a recent YouTube vid in which he explains how to STOP anyone scanning you, which in some cases a completed scan will cause a mission to FAIL. The "sacrifice" for his method is the "fine" you get for firing upon someone unprovoked, but firing on them (even just 1 shot with a low power weapon, to avoid a murder charge) IMMEDIATELY stops a scan from completing. (Dock scan is a diff matter: boost thru letterbox!)
He also suggests turning your ship's butt toward the sun, SUBMITTING to the Interdict (so your FSD cooldown is SHORTER), IMMEDIATELY go straight in REVERSE a short distance, and pull your guns out:
the interdicTOR will appear IN YOUR CROSSHAIRS (practically), so either you can pound the crap out of them, if a pirate etc, or shoot once, stop any scan from happening (since they then pull out weapons instead of scanner) and BOOST away back into SuperCruise where they can't follow, because YOU have by now already cooled down, and with their weapons out, they'll take that bit longer to get back into Supercruise after you themselves.
GOOD LUCK.

Once system scanned I found the surface ports with my adv. scanner onlybut true, to 'explore' the planet and get them off the unexplored list you need the surface scanner itself.

All good points. As far as the NPC AI goes I don't think the cargo matters at all. I mean, how many 'tasty cargo' and 'drop all your cargo', or 'glad I found you with that ... expensive cargo' only to either be completely empty or carrying poopy diapers?

Hallo Commanders ...
I just want to tell you that we, CMDR RotBaum and me, CMDR Birne Gilmore, just created a new Facebook Group for german players. We realized that there was non yet (only some which are connected to different clans or sites) and just want to give us all the possibility for a such a great community working together like this one in english here. It is for sharing information, answering questions or just have fun with and about Elite: Dangerous.
Fly safe, CMRDs o7
