Where can I see, how much money my carrier made?
As I thought the Cr for fuel, repairs, bounty and cartograph will be on the plus side, right?
Where is this income listed?

Oh... I had the very tiny small hope, that somehow, at least I could fuel up and repair for free...
... since I paid, what? 150million? for the fuel service?
But at least bounty claims and universal cartographics do make some income, don´t they?

It's a mobile base of operations. When I explore, I get bored after a while and want to do something else. When I mine, I get bored after a while and want to do something else. When I do combat... you get the idea. A carrier would allow me to take multiple ships wherever I go. I could scan systems and map planets and make some money to keep the carrier running, I could mine tritium to keep the carrier jumping. I could land on planets and gather genetic samples. I could race through canyons without worrying about crashing and respawning thousands of light years away. Multiple ships, multiple activities.
Building and maintaining bases is something I like to do in other games as well. In Fallout 4 survival mode for example you have to build and maintain a network of bases because you need food and water and occasionally medical assistance if you contract a disease in the wasteland. You have to go out and gather materials to fortify your bases and build and repair defense systems and water purifiers. You have to plant and harvest vegetables or hunt animals (or become a cannibal ). You have to defend your base against attackers. You have to arm your settlers and assign jobs to them. Again, multiple activities. They keep the game interesting, even after the main quest line is completed.
Taking a carrier out into the black is the closest thing that ED has to offer. If that gets boring, then I guess I'm done with the game and need to look for something else to play.

EpisparhThe game provides far limited variety of things to do outside of human populated space. This is why I consider exploration boring. Few things to do out there.
I completely get that sentiment. I hate to agree with Episparh here, but in deep space you only need two ships at most:
- a purpose-built explorer will accomplish discovery of anything 'cool' (bio, geo, etc.)
- a mining ship to collect lots of ore to sell back in populated zones
However, the miner is the only ship that really needs the FC, and only to maximize jump range and use the FC as a mobile storage for resources and replenishment of drones. The bonus is that you alternate between exploration and mining while in the black.
There's really no one to fight in deep space, so a combat-spec vessel is unneeded. Powerplay, bounties, etc. are all back in the bubble.
I also suffer from a novelty factor, and I've found life in the bubble much better as a result. Even still, I get bored from the grind, and ED is an MMO- the grind is implied.

KurakilFor me personally it is just too much extra work for no real benefit to justify the expense or upkeep. I don't want to feel compelled to play or be tied to it.
Yeah, I'm with you there. It seems more work than it's worth. One thing if it were a squadron thing, but individual? Nah. I'll pass.

Tritium costs 50-60k per ton so you can buy 5-6t tritium with 1t platinum mined. I do not have numbers, but last time I've checked platinum yield per hour is higher that tritium. So effectively you will waste more time and effort mining tritium than mining platinum and buying tritium.
This sums up nicely my least favourite aspect of the Elite universe. The economy makes no sense. Simply put, when the supply of most minerals is effectively unlimited the relative pricing should all balance out to relatively even. Silver and Platinum should be worth about the same, or more accurately silver should be worth more. Why? Because silver doesn't get hotspots (afaik) which makes it scarcer/harder to mine than Platinum (although, tbf I think the reason silver doesn't get a hotspot is because they are deemed not worthy due to the pricing which is another issue).

The economy is simple static variable garbage affected only by BGS states with some constants. If no one supply with Silver but economies needs it to produce the price should sky rocket exponentially. Regardless of how easy is to someone to get one. The demand also should stack with the time or ahead of time if we want to be more realistic.
There is no incentive to mine anything else than meta commodities. Personally, my most valuable resource is my time. If action A is shorter than action B but both result in same end result I will choose always A. This gives me more time to do whatever I want with the remainder of the time that I would waste with the other method.
