Elite: Lore

BolasieI assume the intent is that the drives create a hyperspace (or 'warp' if you are a trekkie) bubble, so in fact you are not moving FTL - your ship is barely if at all moving in fact, but the 'bubble' is being squeezed through spacetime, so shifting your position. In which case the basic rule of the speed of light remaining constantt would apply, except for a minimal shift as it passes into or out of that 'bubble'. And its a game, which is probably the more salient point LOL

Bolasie,

That is indeed how warp works

Unlikely. Either it's out there and you didn't research at all or it's out there and hard to find so it should be posted here, publicly for future researchers.

if you do Ram Tah's missions, picked up from the stations at Meene, you'll acquire most of the guardian lore as well as acquiring lots of pattern data for unlocking the hybrid tech

One resource, pulling a lot of different sources is the Canonn Timeline, as well as an archive of Drew Wagers lore pages - open science and shared knowledge is one of our founding aims

Gaav here with a somewhat lore question, but more based on opinion: Now the Fed ships; even though boring, are designed with "real" specific functions. For example the Fed dropship is as it sounds: to transport things but more importantly troops throughout the battlefield specifically between space and the ground. My question is does the Empire, which I btw proudly serve, do the same; the only ship that is somewhat accurately explained is the Cutter which is the counterpart to the Fed Corvette. Does the Empire have dropships and other specialized craft?

Yes, I'm sure they do, but that part of the lore has not been fleshed out. Feel free to go wild and come up with something!

I always got the impression that the Federation focused more on projecting hard-power while the Imperials focused more on projecting soft-power. Let's not forget the Alliance, which projects power through paperwork (why do you think their warship is a converted freighter? Someone's gotta haul the filing cabinets to the battlefield!)

My initial bet was Courier, although used for radically different role: pushing small elite strike teams or... agents.

Empire seems to be elegant in design, so their style of fighting should also be elegant. I imagine that while Federation is using brute force and direct invasion forces to gain total control -- Empire could rely on delicate cloak and dagger tacticts, sapping systems long enough to join them through more 'peaceful' means. Such as blackmailing or doing exhausting negotiations.

Of course if that would fail, there's nothing more intimidating than facing a foe with well-armed ships that still maintain elegance. I also suspect there's a reason why Imperial ships are white, even came up explanation on that. In the West, white is associated with purity and justice.

In the Far East, white is color of upcoming death.

All I've gathered is I'm buying a Dropship and parking it in Robigo...
