Starfield: General talk

There is a new thread for Starfield - a game for PC and Xbox that will be played by many commanders here, I guess.
If you don't know what Starfield is, there is more information on the official homepage and some bits in the teaser trailer. There is expected that more information will appear on Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase in two weeks.

Yes, it is. But it seems it may arrive in the first quarter of 2023 (approximately), so not so much later.

Yeah, looks great. Looks like what ED:O should've been...

And even if it isn't quite what we want in some ways, Bethesda games have always been very moddable, so community driven improvements are almost certain.

ArtieWell, looks quite good to me.

building your own outpost, weapons and ships is great

Yeah, this looks definitely nice, but what I am looking forward to most is the exploration (~1,000 planets is much more than I have expected). Hopefully there will be interesting things to discover and it won't be just a filler.

Over 1000 planets to explore!

Settlement building!
Picking crew for settlement and ships!

Space dogfighting!

I'm all in!

It's like they took everything that worked in Fallout and Elder Scrolls, and combined it with everything that works in ED, No Man's Sky, Star Citizen etc.

If this is as good as it sounds, take my money!

SakashiroThere's no way all 1,000 explorable planets in Starfield are actually interesting

The curse of procgen. There's no way Bethesda could make even one planet thoroughly interesting. But if you think 1,000 planets are too many, wait until you see the game with 4 billion star systems...

I think the planets that revolve around the story of the game will definitely get some TLC.

I'm not really concerned with Bethesda making interesting planets, because they are at the forefront of modding when it comes to their RPG games and the modding community is going to go to town on this game for both PC and console.

Yeah, I guess even the rest of the "main" planets outside of the main hubs, etc. won't be exactly handcrafted. But if the pseudo-random generator will be capable to provide stuff interesting enough, why not. In the worst case, as Aleksander said - the modding community will hopefully add things there.

I will say I am excited for this, but I'm going to temper my hype for obvious reasons.

Anything related to Starfield, but doesn't exactly fit the Game talk thread.
