Starfield: General talk

06 Dec 2023, 3:29pm
Just finished Starfield. Completed main quest at 73 lvl and have no desire to continue in next universe, BIIIIG DISAPPOINTMENT TO ME.
Never gonna play Bethesda anymore, they killed Fallout and now this "game". Each star and planet looks the same here.
So i;m gonna go back to ED after two yrs break right now, hopefully find some new content?
Cheers

How it started ... How it's going ...

Hehe, that was quick

I've been playing Elite Dangerous for a while and backed it on Kickstarter back then. It's a fantastic game that's well worth the money. I bought some new games in the Steam Christmas sale. Especially early access games where the developers really need the money. Some of them, like "Stranded Death" are masterpieces and I mean masterpieces. With Starfield, my decision was clear. No! Won't buy it because it's rubbish. And this rubbish is clear from the Steam reviews. All the marketing doesn't help any more. On a side note, Fallout 3 and 4 were great, but what was announced here as a "masterpiece" under SC, ED, X or NMS falls well short of expectations and the ratings on Steam reflect this. Fly safe, o7

... and yet, I had fun with it and apparently many other people, too. I now stopped playing to finally finish Baldur's Gate 3 and a few other games, but I will gladly hop back afterwards, despite the flaws the game has (similarly to many other games I had/have fun with, Elite included).

Man, imagining liking something that didn't review well *cough*Odyssey*cough*, but still finding enjoyment in the game. That's something, isn't it?

Same, Arty! I'm glad I went in with the right expectations. Obviously there's a lot that can be done to make the game better. I'll wait until the next big patch comes, as well as mods for console to start on another playthrough. Over 200+ hours lets me know I got my money's worth.

Like I said elsewhere in the forums, people are using current NMS and CP2077 metrics as a basis of comparison. I mean, why not compare Starfield to the release versions of those games and tell me which of the three had the most troubled release. In either case, I'm glad I got a sci-fi showing from Bethesda. And like you, I'm knee deep in BG3 right now. 20 hours in and I'm having a blast. It's my first CRPG.

Enjoy it! It has a fantastic freedom in how to solve various situations and quests nobody did before and I am afraid also nobody will have a courage to replicate in any upcoming RPG anytime soon. There are also other great CRPGs around, if you will have an itch after completing BG3 like Divinity: Original Sin games (also from Larian), both Pathfinder games, Pillars of Eternity and many other relatively recent titles.

300+ and counting... Lazily, lol. Too deep in the writing and all the artwork/rendering connected to it. Took a creative break from games'n'stuff.

Nothing spells freedom quite like fighting hyenas and hyena people completely in the nude.

I think a lot of people got Starfield for Christmas or maybe started playing over holiday break. I’ve been pointing a lot of people to this site for reference.

So they have a chance to look at the Elite community and embrace the insanity. :p

I'm sorry, I love gaming too much to not support every developer. Starfield has brought me as much joy as any other game I've ever waisted +500 hours on. It's a Better version of Skyrim as it has Ships. It's something to play as I wait for Star Citizen to make me happy again Sure it has issues, problems, and disappointments, but I've enjoyed immersing myself into it. Many things don't make sense but introducing a Terramorph to a Gravity field is shear enjoyment
