Just a note for tool authors using Inara API - please ensure your apps are doing  TWO requests per minute AT MAXIMUM. As I have discovered, many users are using multiple apps at once (nothing wrong with that), but are also updating their profiles from all of the applications at once, which is causing quite serious overhead. For such reason, I have needed to make API requests limits much tighter. For bots and other similar non-demanding apps are requests rates set same as before. If do you need another requests rate limit, please send me a PM.

Inara API update for Odyssey:
  • The header property isDeveloped was renamed to less confusing isBeingDeveloped. You don't need to change anything on your end though, the old property will still work.
  • A new event addCommanderTravelLand for commanders landing on the celestial body was added (should be triggered at journal's Touchdown, DropShipDeploy and similar).
  • The events addCommanderTravelCarrierJump, addCommanderTravelDock, addCommanderTravelFSDJump and setCommanderTravelLocation now contain optional properties for the star system coordinates, celestial body and celestial body coordinates. It's not required to set, it may however help to further precise commander's location when the star system is not in the database, etc.
  • The events addCommanderTravelDock, addCommanderTravelFSDJump and addCommanderTravelLand are now having boolean properties isTaxiShuttle and isTaxiDropship for travelling with Apex or Frontline Solutions ships.
  • New events setCommanderInventory, resetCommanderInventory, setCommanderInventoryItem, addCommanderInventoryItem and delCommanderInventoryItem added. Those are supposed for handling the new Odyssey events like ShipLockerMaterials and similar, you can however use it also for the existing engineering materials or ship cargo instead of the existing dedicated events (but you do not need to, they are not going anywhere).
  • New events setCommanderSuitLoadout, updateCommanderSuitLoadout and delCommanderSuitLoadout for the suit loadouts added.

RollingSaintI'm getting an error "Error: There was not possible to update your commander data." when updating from Xbox. It used to work fine and was on auto update.
 I did recently purchase Jurassic World.

Yeah, it's a recently discovered problem with Frontier data not containing a commander's name sometimes. Please try it again later (in a couple of hours), it may help. If it will not, I have some workaround prepared which will be live with an Inara update this weekend, so in the worst case it will start to work after that.

Thanks. Yes, it's very likely an older problem, but I have discovered it just this week due an issue of another commander (and reported it to Frontier). Hopefully, the workaround should be a sufficient solution for this bug and should allow to have the auto-updates enabled (although it may cause a side effect of pending commander name verification for some time), but there is no other way out until fixed properly by FD.

I have been using INARA for several years now. Many thanks at this point for the commitment of all involved !!!  :D
Recently I started a second account. The signature should be updated automatically.
But it doesn't. Yes, I made sure that the update could take 24/48 hours. The Commander's data have also been updated at INARA,
but the signature has not. Could someone please check this ?

Hey Inara noob question. On the ranks page, there is a rank/medal for images submitted and logs submitted. Is there a minimum number for this. I did a couple of logs a few weeks back just for fun but nothing popped up. Thanks all.

So.. just had the "slow down cowboy" message. Using EDMC (updates INARA) & the EDDI Voice Attack plugin (doesn't update INARA or anything else, EDMC does it all).

When did I get the message & the 1 hour API timeout? The instant I logged into the game (checking the tick update). Either the apparent update request causes have not been completely identified or the limit tightening is not behaving as expected.

edit: Or, perhaps, EDMC and/or EDDI are having issues.

Hmmm... when it was thrown, shortly before your post? I do not see any errors nor your API key blocked recently.

All common apps for profile updates (EDMC, ELA, EDDI, EDDiscovery) should comfortably fit into the limit, the only problem may happen when multiple apps are used for profile updates at once. For example, there are people that are updating their profile from three apps at once or are running EDMC twice, etc.

Yes, it took me few minutes to find a post related to the issue. But, it is only activity that I have done in ED (and by extension INARA) in many hours & I've not done nothing since, if that helps.

I also checked to ensure that there were not multiple instances of EDMC running & that EDDI was configured not to update INARA.


edit: Estimated time of error was between 13:26 and 13:31 UTC today.

Ah, found the issue - the error was incorrectly thrown when the previous block was lifted, so although the API key was usable at that very moment, the first request was incorrectly rejected. Thanks for the report, it's fixed now.

anyone having issues linking their steam account with inara? i go to link the accounts and click steam, and then sign in. I'm greeted with a "access is denied by user" error. My steam is public and my frontier authenticator is set to allow 3rd party apps. I even have my frontier ID but I cant even manually set that into my profile settings in inara.

Please try to use the Frontier button and Frontier account there, it may work instead of Steam. There are troubles with Steam linking sometimes, depends on the account.
