Inara API

More about Inara API is on the API page, general dev guidelines are here and more detailed documentation about the events and data format here.

Just a note for tool authors using Inara API - please ensure your apps are doing  TWO requests per minute AT MAXIMUM. As I have discovered, many users are using multiple apps at once (nothing wrong with that), but are also updating their profiles from all of the applications at once, which is causing quite serious overhead. For such reason, I have needed to make API requests limits much tighter. For bots and other similar non-demanding apps are requests rates set same as before. If do you need another requests rate limit, please send me a PM.

Inara API update for Odyssey:
  • The header property isDeveloped was renamed to less confusing isBeingDeveloped. You don't need to change anything on your end though, the old property will still work.
  • A new event addCommanderTravelLand for commanders landing on the celestial body was added (should be triggered at journal's Touchdown, DropShipDeploy and similar).
  • The events addCommanderTravelCarrierJump, addCommanderTravelDock, addCommanderTravelFSDJump and setCommanderTravelLocation now contain optional properties for the star system coordinates, celestial body and celestial body coordinates. It's not required to set, it may however help to further precise commander's location when the star system is not in the database, etc.
  • The events addCommanderTravelDock, addCommanderTravelFSDJump and addCommanderTravelLand are now having boolean properties isTaxiShuttle and isTaxiDropship for travelling with Apex or Frontline Solutions ships.
  • New events setCommanderInventory, resetCommanderInventory, setCommanderInventoryItem, addCommanderInventoryItem and delCommanderInventoryItem added. Those are supposed for handling the new Odyssey events like ShipLockerMaterials and similar, you can however use it also for the existing engineering materials or ship cargo instead of the existing dedicated events (but you do not need to, they are not going anywhere).
  • New events setCommanderSuitLoadout, updateCommanderSuitLoadout and delCommanderSuitLoadout for the suit loadouts added.

ArtiePlease try to import the data manually by pressing the Import Frontier data button on your commander page, there are still some journals in the last queue and this will move it forward (so it will make an update and puts it also into the regular queues).

That worked, thank you!

ArtieAbout the prices - there was some change in how some commodities are prices with the Odyssey launch (like Gold), but those should be back in normal, as far as I know and see in the data. Otherwise, I am not aware any other issue, there is just the regular bulk sale tax, etc. as it was before. Do you have some specific example (station names and for what commodity), please?

I don't. I should probably start annotating that data in Excel or a Inara log. The only materials I've been trying to sell are Platinum & Painite, and what I observed was if the dB said station X was buying for $250K/unit, a demand in the hundreds, and a last-reported mere minutes ago, I would arrive to find actual prices more like $50K/unit with no demand. While it's possible that someone else was using the same data, dropped in before me and sold off hundreds of units, erasing the demand, I struggle to believe it's happening at every station I happen to arrive at.

Ah, then it really seems to be a subject of the bulk tax with the combination of dynamic low or none demands for the mined commodities. It was that way before the Odyssey, too. For the mined commodities it's best to look for high demands, especially if you are fully loaded with hundreds of units, as it will reduce the risks.

Hi there!
After studying the API documentation I probaly know the answer is negative but hope dies last: Is there any way I could use Inara to authenticate users to my web site?

Correct, there is no such option and it's not planned (as it won't be very safe to use API keys for such thing).

I didn't have any API keys in mind. I recon you have the most robust CMDR login/checking procedures available so it would be cool if Inara acted as an OAuth provider Simply having Inara validate a login and then use Inara CMDR id to store references for related data in my application.
Thanks anyway, appreciated!

@Artie

Is there a way for me to get system traffic data, as well as player death data from the last 24 hours, ideally in JSON format, from Inara? I have only found this data in an exportable format over on EDSM, but it is very far off compared to what Inara and in-game figures are showing. If that is not possible, do you know of any other places where I can find that information?
17 Jul 2021, 3:11pm
Currently no way and nothing in that regard is planned. The traffic numbers are just estimates anyway (there is no exact value coming from the game). Not sure if there is any other source due this.

I see, I kind of figured that was the case. Thanks for clarifying though!

Is there any way to send data realtime to Inara on Windows 7?
Before Odyssey i used Market Connector and EDDiscovery. But for now Market Connector no longer support Windows 7 and EDDiscovery send only partial data through Frontier CAPI.
Could you advise me an alternative?
21 Jul 2021, 5:56pm
I am afraid that Windows 7 is now considered as obsolete and all the tools will have a problem due old TLS versions there. You may try EDDI, but I think it will be the same.

Does anybody know if there's a reason, why my combat bonds are not shown in inara? Everything else works quite fine (except mercenary - but no Odyssey, no foot combat, so no surprise here...) ...
Thx
J.

There were no combat bonds in the journal's Statistics event at the time of the latest update/journal import. But, something should appear there at the next sync, as I see there is some more recent Statistics event in the journal.
