Chuck took the ship and ran. He ended up escorting a Pilot's Federation trader and managed to defeat 2 hostile Eagles in his Sidewinder, saving the trader twice in a single trip. Unbeknownst to Chuck, the Trader had a Tycoon rank with the Pilot's Federation, and on his recommendation, Chuck was a newly minted Harmless, Penniless, and Aimless pilot within a week. He has now made several times more money than his parents ever had, and even managed to maintain the strange, split accent. Li Yong-Rui has yet to request that Chuck return for any more drill tests, and it remains to be seen whether Chuck would actually do so if he asked.
Since his minting as an official Pilot's Federation Commander, it is largely unknown what he has done to make all his money, as he tends to keep to himself. What is known is that he is not a pirate, and that a few less pirates are observed in any system he visits. While this would seem to suggest Chuck is now a bounty hunter, the economies of these systems also see a notable boost, leading many to believe he is a profitable trader. Perhaps most outlandish of all, personnel stationed at some of the galaxy's most remote outposts, from Omega Mining to Caravenserai, tell tall tales about the overengineered Dolphin and its heavily accented pilot, and the millions of credits of exploration data he brings with him during his irregular visits to their stations. Suffice to say only Chuck himself knows where his money came from, and he's not an easy man to find.
On a final note, the few people that claim to have spoken directly to Chuck have commented on how odd it is that his Pilot's Federation Holo-Me avatar is a woman, even though Chuck is clearly a man. While no concrete explanation for this oddity has ever been found, image recognition data suggests that the avatar strongly resembles a woman he met and may or may not have had a relationship with during his Sirius Corp training. Why Chuck uses her likeness as his own will probably always remain a mystery, though it is possible that he simply likes to see her face in his HUD.
