ADM Glen van Ross is a native of Washington, D.C., second child of an educator and diplomat. He is a 3280 graduate of Olympus Village University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, magna cum laude; a 3292 graduate of Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service with a Master of Arts in Security Studies, with honors; and a 3303 graduate of the Naval Nuclear Power Training program.

Van Ross was commissioned through the Navy ROTC program and was designated a naval aviator in 3281. Operational Tours include:
  • Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 86 "Sidewinders" from 3282-3285, participating in Operations Able Sentry, Tropic Lightning, and Deliberate Forge.
  • Fleet Logistics Support (VRC) 30 "Providers" in 3288 as a mission planner and tactics instructor.
  • Spaceborne Command & Control (VAW) 117 "Wallbangers" from 3291-3293 as a department head, participating in intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions within the Kumo Crew stronghold Pegasi sector.
  • VFA-103 "Jolly Rogers" from 3296-3298 as the executive officer and commanding officer, participating in Operations Sagittarius and Monsoon Rain.
  • Medium-range exploration vessel Endurance (AGS-19) from 3301 to 3303 as the executive officer.
  • Heavy combatant FNS Eisenhower (SCV-27) as the commanding officer.
  • In 3308, van Ross commanded the long-range, heavy exploration vessel Axiom (AGS-20) on a 5,000 light-year voyage, discovering and cataloging dozens of previously-unknown worlds.
Shore assignments include Navy Fighter Weapons School from 3285-3288 as a strike fighter instructor and editor of the NSAWC Journal; the Joint Staff from 3293-3295 as a threat analyst and contributor to Federal Intelligence Estimates; and the staff of the Chief of Naval Operations in 3299 as program requirements officer for the director, aerospace warfare.

ADM Glen van Ross assumed command of fleet carrier FNS Saratoga (T6Q-48H) on March 10, 3309. He has accrued more than 3,400 hours across a variety of spacecraft, including the F-63 Condor, Gu-97, XG8 Javelin, Sidewinder, Cobra Mk III, Asp Explorer, Python, Alliance Chieftain, Beluga Liner, Federal Corvette, and Imperial Cutter.
