Born on Procyon B7, Vladimir was raised as a successor for small space courier company owned by his family.
In 3295 company went bankrupt because of intensified pirate activity that caused a major economic disruption. Attracted by high salary and privilegies granted by his university, he joined Federal Navy after he had graduated with a major in space logistics.
Vladimir had been serving in the Navy for almost 8 years, achieving the rank of ensign when thagroid threat, long unknown, reappeared on radars. After initial attacks on the autumn of 3303, Istomin resigned from the Fleet to apply as junior logistician and supplies courier for FCDI - First Contact Defense Initiative, a multi-national joint military force tasked to help with thwarting the xeno efforts in Pleiades cluster. Unfortunately, due to inner conflicts coming from different backgrounds, Initiative slowly died.
In early 3304 Vladimir enlisted in PMC Earth Defense Fleet where he serves to this day.
