Established 3284 by Vicktore Beskor, the Earth Defense Fleet, or EDF, is an independent military corporation with close ties to the Federation. They are currently based in the Okinura system but can be seen operating throughout Zachary Hudson controlled space. The mission of EDF: to protect Federation Interests and her citizens. Earth Defense Fleet started off as a small company at first, but with the ratification of the Interstellar Crisis Management Act, EDF grew into the galactic corporation it is today. With thousands of pilots, as well as spacecraft, at her disposal, EDF is able to maintain hundreds of contracts in a multitude of systems across Federation Space. Earth Defense Fleet not only helps the Federation, but also the local governments and citizens of each system with tasks like trade, bounty hunting, search and rescue, and system defense. Knowing that you hold a contract with EDF means knowing you are safe.

EDF Code of Conduct
The Code of Conduct relates to Earth Defense Fleet (EDF) player group, the modus operandi and standards of behaviour expected from all members.

The code applies to all members and members of subgroups (eg. EEF) of EDF.

EDF recognises the importance of a healthy gameplay environment and actively supports the promotion of it.

EDF expects all members to observe and practice the standards pointed out in this Code. Breaking it may result in disciplinary action including termination of membership along with being reported to Frontier Developments if the severity of the situation calls for it.

Fairness
EDF believes in fair play therefore cheating and/or exploiting to gain an edge is out of the question. Also no combat logging. Win with dignity, lose with grace. Verified evidence of deliberate combat logging will result in an immediate and permanent removal from the EDF.

Respect
EDF is a multi-national group composed of many different people around the world. All members are expected to treat each other in a non-discriminatory manner with proper regards to their dignity. In this regard any kind of racism or sexism won't be tolerated. Acts of mutual respect extends to the usage of forums and VOIP software. (Note that this does not mean jokes and fun is not allowed)

Courteousness
EDF strives to be one of the premier player groups in Elite: Dangerous, therefore dealings with Frontier Developments, the general community, prospect members and other player groups and EDF members thereof will be in polite manners. Griefing, cursing, harassment and unsporting behaviour towards rival groups or powers are not something EDF does.



Fleet History

• EDF founded in Sol. Consist of a decentralized group of ex-military pilots operating in close proximity to Sol with a number of small bases and offices throughout the system.

• Federation Democratic Council ratifies the Interstellar Crisis Management Act which allows for "rapid access to any and all available resources to deal with any crisis which effects an entire system or systems. This can be anything from the threat of supernova, medical emergencies, and similar incidents." The EDF is the first force to be implemented into the official fold of corporations available for this mission statement. Recruiting opened up for Elite pilots everywhere to join the Earth Defense Fleet.
Many conspiracy theorists speculated that the Federation itself funded the corporate startup, but no evidence was ever found to substantiate those claims.

• Following the growth of EDF, public concern led to Beskor centralizing and relocating the corporation to the Okinara system, 32.5 ly from Sol. Seen as just a public stunt by experts, the EDF presence in Sol did not diminish by the change.

• Zachary Hudson becomes President of the Federation, giving Beskor (according to uncertified sources) much more freedom and power.

• EDF participates in Distant Worlds Expedition establishing the Earth Expeditionary Fleet (EEF) near Colonia.

• EDF expands into Nanomam (Hudson's home system) to provide controlling security after the Neo Marlinist Liberation Army (NMLA) bombed Hahn Gateway.

• For their bravery and dedication in defense of Nanomam, the all EDF are awarded the prestigious Silver Combat Medallion.
