The Void Diver was purchased with exploration as its primary purpose, of which it was equipped with a V1 FSD to maximize its jump range to 76 ly unladen, far greater than Ardapel’s prior explorer vessels. During its maiden voyage to Colonia, its superiority as a surface explorer was discovered after it was used in collecting exobiology data en route to its destination. Benefitting from its small size, long jump range, and normal space versatility, it was used in many expeditions, garnering tens of billions of credits. It’s role as an explorer was later succeeded by the Antarctica, which had a superior unladen jump range of 85 ly, but the Void Diver was still used in later journeys involving planetary footfalls.
